Hey Everyone!
I thought I would post this review since I think a lot of people, like myself, waited months and months before pulling the trigger on getting the Power Pack 2. I had it installed by a Ford dealer ($250) and now I want to provide my initial impressions after driving it for probably 30-45 minutes in all types of driving environments to include stop and go traffic, highway, and around town.
Drivability: This was my largest concern, because as my daily driver, I didn't want the car to act super aggressive like it does when it is in sport+ mode. As it turns out, it is very similar to the stock tune, only with a little more 'muscle' in a sense that the car feels more stout and powerful without being too aggressive. While getting on the power, it is immediately clear something was done to the car, but it isn't something that would get annoying after the honeymoon phase wears off. Shifts are crisp, not hard, and you probably wouldn't notice any difference at normal speeds in normal traffic. I did not hear any engine pinging, or feel any issues with the transmission or anything that would tell me something didn't feel right.
Sound: So this was a surprise to me. I have the FRPP Borla Touring Cat-Back, and for whatever reason, the Power Pack 2 completely changed the note of the exhaust to a much deeper and rich tone without losing that Borla sound. It sounds amazing. Wasn't anticipating this to happen at all, but it was probably the most prominent difference when I initially got in the car and drove off the dealership lot.
Power: This is what it's all about, right? The power delivery with the Power Pack 2 is a little difficult to explain. At normal conditions, the power will be subtly stronger, but not too much, as it swells a little quicker than with the stock tune. If you're driving around town and are having a little bit of fun, you will definitely notice the tires breaking lose a little easier. However, it is still very mustang-esque, meaning it doesn't change the overall dynamic of the mustang and how power is delivered via the coyote engine. It just feels like there is more torque, but not so much that you would have to change your driving style. Overall, at normal driving conditions, it just feels 'better'.
However, this all changes when you are going at 3/4 throttle or WOT. The Power Pack 2 really comes alive around 4K RPM or so, and it pulls significantly harder all the way to about 7200RPM. It is night and day difference between the stock tune and the Power Pack 2 when you are either merging on the highway or having a little bit of fun on your way up to the speed limit. I think it is a cumulative effect from the initial torque feel (4-5000RPM) and more top end power once you get into the 6000RPM+ range.
Conclusion: Overall, I am very happy with the Power Pack 2 for my 2016 3.15 Auto. It wakes the car up, without being obnoxious and hurting the daily drivability. If you are on the fence about this modification, and you have an auto transmission, I would highly recommend. For the cost of the part ($650, Levittown w/shipping) and install ($250, Ford dealer), it is absolutely money well spent. There is a noticeable difference in power, noticeable sound difference, and overall just a good mod at a good value for these S550 mustangs.
I hope this helped some people out there. Thank you!
