Hey Everyone!

I thought I would post this review since I think a lot of people, like myself, waited months and months before pulling the trigger on getting the Power Pack 2. I had it installed by a Ford dealer ($250) and now I want to provide my initial impressions after driving it for probably 30-45 minutes in all types of driving environments to include stop and go traffic, highway, and around town.

Drivability: This was my largest concern, because as my daily driver, I didn't want the car to act super aggressive like it does when it is in sport+ mode. As it turns out, it is very similar to the stock tune, only with a little more 'muscle' in a sense that the car feels more stout and powerful without being too aggressive. While getting on the power, it is immediately clear something was done to the car, but it isn't something that would get annoying after the honeymoon phase wears off. Shifts are crisp, not hard, and you probably wouldn't notice any difference at normal speeds in normal traffic. I did not hear any engine pinging, or feel any issues with the transmission or anything that would tell me something didn't feel right.

Sound: So this was a surprise to me. I have the FRPP Borla Touring Cat-Back, and for whatever reason, the Power Pack 2 completely changed the note of the exhaust to a much deeper and rich tone without losing that Borla sound. It sounds amazing. Wasn't anticipating this to happen at all, but it was probably the most prominent difference when I initially got in the car and drove off the dealership lot.

Power: This is what it's all about, right? The power delivery with the Power Pack 2 is a little difficult to explain. At normal conditions, the power will be subtly stronger, but not too much, as it swells a little quicker than with the stock tune. If you're driving around town and are having a little bit of fun, you will definitely notice the tires breaking lose a little easier. However, it is still very mustang-esque, meaning it doesn't change the overall dynamic of the mustang and how power is delivered via the coyote engine. It just feels like there is more torque, but not so much that you would have to change your driving style. Overall, at normal driving conditions, it just feels 'better'.

However, this all changes when you are going at 3/4 throttle or WOT. The Power Pack 2 really comes alive around 4K RPM or so, and it pulls significantly harder all the way to about 7200RPM. It is night and day difference between the stock tune and the Power Pack 2 when you are either merging on the highway or having a little bit of fun on your way up to the speed limit. I think it is a cumulative effect from the initial torque feel (4-5000RPM) and more top end power once you get into the 6000RPM+ range.

Conclusion: Overall, I am very happy with the Power Pack 2 for my 2016 3.15 Auto. It wakes the car up, without being obnoxious and hurting the daily drivability. If you are on the fence about this modification, and you have an auto transmission, I would highly recommend. For the cost of the part ($650, Levittown w/shipping) and install ($250, Ford dealer), it is absolutely money well spent. There is a noticeable difference in power, noticeable sound difference, and overall just a good mod at a good value for these S550 mustangs.

I hope this helped some people out there. Thank you!

I have an auto 3:15 also, the only thing I would like to add is that the cabin noise is reduced by eliminating that sound tube to the cabin. I really like that.

I think the bang for the buck is outstanding!

Been debating if I want to spend money on a tune or just save up and get a supercharger.

Thanks for the review man, how's your gas mileage after the tune?
I can't really say at this point since I just had it put on, but I will definitely let you know as soon as I spend a few weeks with it.

I actually called a couple different ford dealers in the area and kind of started the conversation with, "I know this should be a couple hours of work (if that), and other dealers in the area are asking for around $200-300 but I want to make sure the dealer/technician I go with has done this before because there is a tune involved."

I called 2 dealerships and the first guy said he was familiar with the power packs and I'm right that it shouldn't take more than 2 hours.

The other dealership I called wanted $365 but I just flat asked him for a price...didn't use my mental gymnastics on him. I also don't think he really knew what it was even though I told him the components.

Point is - go with a ford dealer that knows this product so 1) you get a better price since its not a difficult install and 2) you never want an inexperienced person working on your car :)

if you really want to change your exhaust note now, fold your rear seats down!
This, or also remove the lower seat cushion in the rear seat. I did that for some PDR work, exhaust sounded 2x louder.

Not yet! I have never actually done a proper 0-60 run as a matter of fact. I think it can easily do low 4's but traction will definitely be an issue. I'll see if I can do it soon* and post a picture of what I come up with.

*all timed runs are taken on a closed course

When I get mine I'll go to the same dealer that did my Ecoboost tune, they allowed me to install the hard parts myself and just flashed the tune for 1 hour of labor - $100. I'm sure I'll get a good rate for this pack, although I think they would have to install the whole thing because the TB probably doesn't work without the tune.
