Speaking of fleet sales. I just returned form a Key West FLA vacation. Made the drive to and from Miami - KW. Rented a convertible Mustang. I decided to start counting Mustang vs Camaro. Several times I counted 15-20 Mustangs before seeing a Camaro. So a safe bet would be 15 to 1 in a high rental vehicle area Mustang over Camaro.

Interesting sales numbers. Camaro numbers are fairly disappointing. I get GM strategy is to cut fleet to almost 0, but for an all new model I think has to be sting internally.
How does that make a lick of sense? Assuming you are selling even fleet vehicles at a profit, be that $1000 or $100 it's still money.

It makes sense in theory, you would rather have the majority come from retail sales where you make more money. But like you said even when you sell to fleet you still make some profit and move inventory. Moving inventory keeps the factory moving. When the factory is sitting idle, your losing money.

I wouldn't be surprised if GM does a fleet dump a the end of the year. You have to be able to find the right balance.

The Camaro6 idiots, in particular Medisin, like to spew out the "fleet sales vs retail sales" shit because it's the only metric where the Gen6 Camaro has a sales lead. They go on about residual value, etc.

Fuck them, a sale is a sale. Is a retail sale more preferable? Sure..but as long as the car sells at a profit, it's okay by me. I'm just a shareholder at Ford, not an employee or a board member, so my perspective is limited.

Can't avoid a 30% drop approaching 36 months of sales. I don't care it your the Nintendo Wii or the iconic Mustang, expect a decrease after year 2.

Looks like the '18 refresh was timed perfectly as well as the drivetrain upgrades.

Talk to us about the Challenger. No significant refresh in like... ever. Sales increase this year, trending upwards over the life of the platform....

LMAO, absolutes are hilarious

If Ford was smart, the '18 would have the touchscreen on all models. Ford is too attached to the idea of forcing people up to premium to get the good looking one - the competition doesn't do that. People will still buy Premium trim to get leather, bells/whistles.

For a lot of folks if you're buying a brand new car ($$$!) and you spend 30K+ and there is no big screen, instead a screen that belongs in like 2005. It is embarassing. I am fine with cloth seats, don't need leather, but that numberpad/tiny screen just makes the interior look 10+ yrs older.

Ford's numbers are decent, but I think they'd sell more if the base interior wasn't kinda sad.

Filed to: Old guys on the forum who think technology is bad / driving should be about escaping the attachment to technology and $30k for a crappy entertainment interface is fine as long as you have that good ole V8.

What do you mean? I'm confused, my post was all about how the base needs a better touchscreen.

What I mean is that I agree with you but the status quo for the 'wise' members here is that base should have as little as possible in it because all that matters is getting that V8.

The Camaro was killed off once. Will it happen again?
Let's hope so if camaro keeps tanking in sales they'll axe it again. If gm can't make the profit it wants Mustang will kill camaro again

The '18 refresh, purely from an aesthetics view, is a total dud.

And I wonder what's up with the 35+ percent decline in sales. It's summatime.
Car sales are down industry wide with some gains in suv sales. Cars are simply not flying out the door like they did in 2015.

It won't make your car any faster or better. Not sure why you always jump in here to say that. You make the same comment on every sales thread.
