GTPP replacement tires...deals

Hey, I figured I'd post this in the general forums as many likely don't venture to the wheels/tires.

I just replaced my worn Pirelli PZeros with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. For those that don't know, these get great reviews and in my opinion, grab better than the Pirellis. Tread wear is 340 which is great for a tire of this caliber.

Anyways, the whole point is they have their summer $60 discount going on. I had all four tires installed for $723 out the door. With the $60 rebate (visa gift card), the price is down to $623 which is an amazing value.

The ONLY downside here is they discontinued the 255 tires as they weren't selling enough of them. I went with a 245 up front, but they also offer a 265.

Thanks for the info. These wouldn't happen to be all season, would they? With a name like Indy 500's I doubt it, but I figured I'd ask. I need a set of all seasons for winters in Jersey.

I've had these now for just a little over 1,500 miles and they are great tires. Honestly, they are. I'm running stock GT/PP size with 255/40R19 front and 275/40R19 rears and couldn't be happier. I cannot vouch for how they handle on the track (straight or twisty) but daily driving, spirited back roads, hot (110+ during last weeks heat wave in Ca), and very heavy rain; they work. And work well.

Price point, excellent. In fact the price vs. performance is so great it is really slowing down trying to find a GT350 replica style wheel with a wider footprint and square setup for my car. For example the Michelin Pilot Super Sport set of 4 is North of 1,000 compared to the Firehawks in the 650 to 740 range. 300 bucks isn't anything to scoff at, you know?

Just my take on a good performing street tire for our cars. To me the price is perfect. Hopefully they won't increase the rates.

I upgraded to a similar tire, the Sumitomo HTR III. I actually wanted the Firehawk's but Tire Rack was totally sold out, so I grabbed the Sumitomo's. They were $660 shipped. I paid a pretty penny to get them installed because I wanted roadforce balancing on all four corners.

I love them. They drive better, they look better. The car feels so much nicer. Never underestimate a good set of tires!

Curious: what PSI are you running at? I'm at ~36 which is what the tire shop did for me ... I know that OEM is lower than that. Wondering if it matters.

Odd, they are showing up fine for me.

As for PSI, they threw the on at 36. I'll have to test them out before I make any tweaks.

The PP sizes are backordered. I spoke to them on the phone and they said it could be a few months until they were in stock.

Call up firestone and they can get the 275...they shouldn't be back-ordered, I spoke to them 3 days ago. Unlike tirerack, they are able to pull from nationwide firestone stores.

The 255's are no longer being produced...so you'll need to go either 245's or 265's.

Seriously, there is far more irrelevant garbage posted in the general forum than a member trying to inform the masses of a current deal. Not everyone ventures into the sub-forums on a daily basis, and in this particular case....there is a time sensitive issue, as the rebate expires in a little over a week.

Quite honestly, there is no reason to complain. This thread doesn't hurt you or any other member.

I just got these tires as well in factory sizes. They are so much better than the pirellis. They grip on dry and wet much better. I would say the pirellis have a slightly harder side wall because they felt a little more precise when doing minor steering adjustments. But the indys have far superior grip, higher tread ware rating and are pretty cheap.
