In a thread about Pedders over in the Aussie section someone stated that the pedders is just the resold BC racing system and it could be found much cheaper going direct to BC.
So I thought I'd do a little research for us and got in contact with BC direct since their website doesn't list the S550 as a fitment option.

Their reponse was
The BC kit isn't quite the same as the Pedders kit.
Their BR series is £849 inc VAT (Street and occasional track usage)
Their RM series (inverted fronts) is $929 inc VAT (Full Track usage can be harsh on road)

I also asked about their V1 series as it looks visually very similar to the Pedders kit.
Their V1 kit is replaced by the BR series but can still be supplied in at £769 inc VAT

In all cases (unlike the pictures) top mounts must be supplied yourself either OE or after market so unlike the pictures they don't come with the adjustable top mounts on them.

All in pricing doesn't seem that bad though since they've never been mentioned before I guess nobody else has ever had them fitted ?
I was going to go with pedders but I may give these a whirl as at £850 thats a pretty good price.

But pedders are 850 though?

And yes nobody has BC racing on their cars, couple of us (inc me) have pedders, and a few have KW v1, and then a very select few (mac/Gibbo) have Kw v3s.

No we don't!

We have Clubsports. :)

KW range is as follows:

V1: Height adjustable only, damping pre-set, same as the Roush & Vogtland offerings, they just use their own spring rates. However these are all pretty soft, big improvement over stock, though some people who are more fussy can't get the ride they want. Monotube I believe.
V3: Height adjust, rebound and compression adjust and again the same shock Roush use in there Stage 2/3 kit, can't remember. I think spring rates are same as V1 but of course you can fine tune dampening to your liking.
Clubsports 2-way: What me and Mac have, much firmer front spring, but actually really has little effect on ride quality, but greatly improves handling, again rebound and compression adjust, they also include top mounts and are a twin tube damper.

There is also a 3-way clubsport damper with seperate resevoirs but this is generally strictly for race cars only!

V1 is around £1250, V3 around £1750 and Clubsport 2-way around £2500.

With suspension you get what you pay for!

In regards to BC, they are about the best made Chinese coilover you can buy, avoid brands like HSD, total junk, fine if you drive only on a track but on the road freaking terrible. BC is the best of the Chinese, but I'd still not buy them.

However Pedders use BC as the OEM and do I believe have them make some changes which Pedders believe were better so for the money they are half the price of KW V3 and probably not too far away in quality, how they will be in 30k miles I do not know, whereas KW are good for 60k+ and KW are UK based and you can send the damper in to be rebuilt for £80 if you have an issue, no idea on the situation with BC/Pedders should you need a rebuild a year or so later.

On my M3 and other M3's I've tried HSD (junk on road and average track), BC (average on track, better on road), KW V3 (great on road, bit soft for track), KW Clubsport (amazing on the road, very good on track), Intrax (great on road, amazing balls on track).

Generally the weakness of cheap coilovers is comfort and adjust ability on the road and of course lifespan and warranty.

BC are UK based too which is why I was interested over the pedders who don't have a uk base outside of resellers and visually they look identical bc v1's to pedders.

also manufactured by (primary bc company tiwan not china :) http://www.bcec.com.tw/history/company.html)

Taiwan explains why BC is the best of the Chinese coilovers there. :)

Sorry my bad, I had in my head the V2's as the V3's and the v3s as the clubsports so got them mixed up, knew you two had the top dog spec though ;)!
