I just ordered pack 1 - will report back. I ordered other stuff too. I know people are bigger on 2 and 3, but this may just be a stop-gap tune before getting boost - considering a Vortec centrifugal. I want more, but also want it safe and subtle. I'm sure the times as measured in trackapps will be quicker without needing a second shift to 60.

What happens if for some reason you want to remove hardware and go back to stock tune? All I see in the manual is a restore previous tune which would put you back to the rev hang tune.

So now you would have to go back two tunes, or does the software give you the ability to choose the stock tune file? Not that I plan on ever going back.
The updated tune did not flag an ecu backup before flashing. To return to stock just open the first revision download with the backup in it and hit the return to stock button

To your first point, It's kinda foggy. When I talked to FP they said there were gonna release the revised tune. However, other members have commented that their interactions were opposite of that.
I would think that they will release the revised software though :cheers:

To your second point, you're absolutely right.
As 2morrow states, I spoke with two FPP reps and both told me different things. The guy on the phone for the first conversation sounded unsure on when and even stated "if" they will release. The second person I spoke to within chat and he mentioned "in the following weeks" which is so vague it's barely a timeline. Let's just hope it doesn't take them as long to publish it as it has for them to even offer these power packs...

Thank you, 2morrow. Levittown is showing an ETA of late-June, but we know how that goes. Could be next week, could be July. I definitely want the new tune (like everyone else) and will wait until that is available before I install. No point in loading the old tune and dealing with potential issues.

BTW, I would assume the "old" and "new" tunes have different file names? Would someone please post both in this thread so the community knows which is which?
The new tune had file name: MGMPFRT_PP2_FRT_TS.pc3
Mine original was: GR3A-SEMA2M-GP1_MYVINNUMBER_05EE
Updated tune was: MGMPxxx_FNTR_PP2_TS_FIX.

Both were different and the original was based upon my VIN. I wouldn't be surprised if each one was specific to VIN since it is required for registration/download.

I'm sure AT & MT would require slightly different software as well.

I could see where this might become an issue mass distributing the new tune now that we have more info about it.

I could definitely see where the MT/AT tunes would be different. The AT tunes would require a ton more data...probably as much trans-specific data as for the engine itself.

But I would guess that aside from whatever differences are in the engine based on year of manufacture ("engine" as a whole....a lot of subsystems in there, of course), the tunes would be pretty much the same. For example:

All 2015 MT non-PP cars have the same tune
All 2016 AT PP cars have the same tune

And so on. While that's a handful of canned tunes to come up with, the overall number of possible tunes is still pretty limited.

Going to the Ford Nationals later in the week. Thinking of having the Performance Pack 2 installed. There is a Ford dealer setup there to install Ford Performance offerings. Is it worth waiting for the updated tune to be readily available? How would one know when the revised tune is being offered for download? TIA

You should go ahead and get it while you can. The original tune with the power pack is not bad, there's just a few issues they had to work out. I'm sure the new tune is coming soon. They will probably just email you when it's out. If you have someone do the install for you, make sure they use your email address and info to set up your account with ford performance, and ideally use your own computer. That makes it easy to re-flash when the new one comes out.

Or at a minimum have them email you the backup file or bring a USB stick to put it on. Definitely have them use your account to register the tune.

Good idea I will bring a USB stick to have them backup the stock tune. They should be able to email it to me also. Thanks :usa:
