Camaro SS is 455 HP.......something tells me they are not releasing the HP yet because they have not finalized the tweaks to make at least 456 HP......at least that's what my Magic 8 Ball says.
Yeah, I agree. To me it seems like they delayed the facelift a bit so they at least are a bit faster with all their technology upgrades than the current 2SS before the Camaro facelift launches next year.

Okay now even I'm getting tired of the 18 hate and I'm not even in love with it. Won't sell? You've got to be kidding. Of course it'll sell at least as well as the current cars do, but almost certainly it'll do better. Nobody's 2017 model is going up in value, lol.

As for horsepower, I've been hearing the 485 number being tossed around a little more recently by people that claim to have connections. Would certainly help level the playing field with both Camaro and Challenger.

The 18 won't sell better than the 15 and 16, it's just not THAT much different. There won't be the "wow" factor you get with a new body style. That's not to say it won't sell well (it will).

Maybe not with the new body style (subjective) but the technology improvements are a "wow" IMO

You might be right. I think it comes down to the buyer. I think the 18 will sell better among enthusiasts and stay about the same for the masses. I'd argue that the only huge new performance thing the 2015s brought was IRS. Going from 14 to 15 you got the whole new exterior and interior, but a mostly carryover engine (I know the internals were improved) with only 15 more horsepower.

While the 18s aren't a radically new design, for the enthusiast I think it's a much bigger leap going from 17 to 18 than 14 to 15. New engine with almost certainly more than 15 hp bump, magnaride, much faster 10 speed auto or improved 6-speed manual, much better tires, active quad exhaust, and a possible PP2 package to take things even further, among other smaller things.

Only time will tell how sales will do, but even in a worse case scenario, the body style is only sticking around another 3 years.

I personally think everything after the foxes up until the 15 are rolling turds. Awful, cheap, plasticky and outdated in nearly every way.. but they still sold a ton. The 18 will take some getting used to. Ugly to me yes. I think a Steeda or other aftermarket fascia will solve everything.
The Mustang never was about pretense, luxury, or cutting-edge tech. That's always been part of its appeal, that it wasn't another Lincoln wanna-be available at the Ford store (back in the earliest ponycar days, Mercury's Cougar was far better suited to that task).

I like this post.

As far as HP, whatever it is won't be a deal maker or deal breaker for me. I don't use the full potential of my 420hp '14 GT now, although more is better and it's nice to spout off bigger numbers. I'm very interested in the active exhaust

But I want a Mustang because it's a Mustang. Simple as that.

Agreed, I'm looking forward to the new tech/features the most. Particularly digital dash and active exhaust. I like the styling of the '15 and '18, but that alone wouldn't get me into a new Mustang.

I am most interested in the Magnaride. The dual mode active exhaust is intriguing, and hopefully the changes to the engine give it more torque at low rpm. The front on the 2018 looks fine, the side profile looks perfect, and the changes to the rear are going to get me to buy one. I never have cared for the rear on the 2015-17 with that splash of color below the black bumper. The 2018 rear design gets rid of that and looks great. I have had five Mustangs, the 2018 will be number six.
1988 Mustang 2.2L vert (LOL - it had 88 hp)
1999 Mustang GT 4.6L vert
2003 Cobra vert with a few mods ;)
2011 Mustang GT 5.0 vert
2014 Mustang V6 vert
2018 Mustang GT 5.0 vert to be ordered
Looking forward to it!

Not interested in the tech as much as the power and new auto 10 transmission!

Well, that's about to change with the 18.

Damn Techies wanna drive my car for me. Worst thing to happen in cars the last few years is the fly by wire throttle. I want my throttle cable back, or keep the damn engineers from building in throttle lag in their systems. When I push on the gas, I want to go!

Wow, if they really target 485 HP the performance difference with all the new tech will be insane compared to 15' PP.

Maybe the look won't be that different to most people, but if that turns out true driving the new PP car will definitely be a wow-factor

For 485hp I can get over anything I don't like in the exterior looks.
