Ford Racing ProCal Tune

Need some help/advise!

I ordered a FP Calibration Kit for my EcoBoost and will hopefully receive it on Monday. If I understand the FP warranty terms right the installation has to be done by an authorized FP dealership or by an ASE certified technician.

Questions:

1. Where can I find out if my local Ford dealership is an "authorized FP dealer"?

All Ford dealers are authorized I believe.

2. Is it possible to get it installed from an ASE certified technician for free (because he is a friend) and get a confirmation letter to keep the warranty?

Yes. They just need to see that the ASE tech signs off on it.

Yes to #2. I installed the cai myself and had a place load the tune for no charge. The receipt indicated no charge and ford racing honored no problem

Thanks! But I wouldn't get a receipt. It would be "only" an informal confirmation that the installation would be made by him as an ASE certified technician.

Need some kind of paperwork you can submit. Maybe you could get creative. ...

He said he has a Galaxy tablet, that runs Android OS I believe.

Missed that.

Had my tune updated at my Ford dealer yesterday. We had FP on the phone while we did it. It took 25 minutes to do the update.

Call Ford Performance and ask. It's possible just that confirmation along with his ASE number might be sufficient. Best to ask ahead of time.

So i just noticed something different with the car after i got tuned. It used to be that in order to disable traction control I had to push and hold the button for at least 5 to 6 seconds, now it's just one push. I prefer it this way but you could imagine my frustration when I tried to disable it the first time after the tune, was like wtf is going on? lol

That's weird, maybe something different with 16s? Mine has always been just hit the switch. Mine is a premium PP, maybe that is different?

Well, theres disabling and then theres disabling. Just tipping the switch once does the same thing as track mode, holding it for 10 seconds actually shuts most of the nannies off.

Well I probably won't be able to see now since I have the FP tune but was there a difference in the indication?

I have a base eco, before 1 push brings up advance trac, holding the button bring up traction control. Now i can toggle between the two with same button. Maybe im just going nuts. I'll check it again later

EDIT:

Well i just checked and i was wrong. It was the Advance trac that comes up when you press and hold the button. Everything functions as before the tune.

FYI!

I asked FP today to get 100% sure.

Official answers:

1. Any Ford dealership is able to do the installation
2. FP needs a repair order/invoice showing that is was a legitimate shop that installed the kit.

The Ford dealers around me charge about 3hours to install the kit.

This is true but it can still be for free, they just need to see a shop invoice. I went to a performance shop with an ASE tech.

My ford dealer let me install and they printed out a ticket for it showing 0 balance.
