I have owned the GT350 and now the ZL1. The ZL1 should beat the GT350R hands down. I really don't think it is a good comparison. The ZL1 has 20% more horsepower, a lot more torque. Both have similar Brembos. The GT350R does have less weight which will help it but not enough. I am sure the ZL1 will be a manual. It is really the best against the best per manufacturer that's all. Both are good cars. The ZL1 is not as nice looking at first, and I did not like the whine. But it has grown on me. And I really don't care about seeing out the back. It has blind spot monitors which help a lot at night.

GT350 or GT350R? Having owned a GT350R for over 18k miles, I can tell you there is a world of difference between the way the GT350TP and GT350R cars perform.

A world??? As in about 2 seconds? As in lighter wheels? As in more wheel? I am ordering an R and have driven one but your view is slightly exagerated.

It is about 2sec on most tracks. Tire/wheel upgrade alone with eat that up.

What do you think will happen next year when the true ford ZL1 competitor comes with 100+ more HP and all the same track goodies, maybe slightly heavier? Push it off as being the corvette competitor? Sure it will be priced more with a Dual Clutch tranny, carbon fiber bits, I don't mind spending the additional for something I REALLY want vs something...ah....not so much. Zl1 isn't a bad performer but I'm not ready to fall into a coffin just yet.

Your right 2 seconds isn't a lot until you make 10 laps around the track and there is a 20 seconds difference. Haha just kiddin man. It's basically the same car. Just tires, rims and downforce. Mines gutted but most aren't.

Chrysler is still running the 2 generations ago E class platform it received as a gift after they let Benz clean out the $$ coffers ... hey but you have 800 HP tho right?
I love Ford, but all this hate towards the FCA LX chassis is a bit unwarranted. Didn't ford start the Fox chassis in 1979 and essentially keep it the same through 2004?

Imagine the hellcat challenger with...oh I don't know, a weight of 3700-3800 pounds.

Now imagine a GT350/R with 700+hp. At its current weight. The GT350/R would clobber it.
