I think it'll be 3800 max. In order to create a balanced car. I don't think, they're not going to drop a 30k engine in a regular chassis. I think it will have 10-15k worth of chassis updates. GT350 already improved handling. What else would they spend money on if not weight savings to offset powertrain weight increase.

That's my sediment as well. To run the max time you swap the skinnies, swap the HVAC control (for race fuel button) reflash the computer, and fuel. Then if you get that magic 9 you get kicked because it doesn't have a full roll cage!! And the car has NO ability to go to a road course. Perfect for drag racers though.
All that will be hard to accomplish at a stop light! lol!!

WTB- a 50th anniversary Shelby GT500 vert-;)
Whilst I'd have preferred a twin turbo setup......simply because it's not what GM/Chrysler are doing.....lets see what the entire package is made up of before writing it off
Agreed.

Seems a huge majority of us wanted it to be TT'd.

Imho I believe Ford wanted a TT setup too, but trying to package the TT's didn't meet Ford's standards apparently.

800+fwhp S/C GT500's likely will sell out very quickly, no matter how many of us aren't impressed by another S/C motor.

Thats astounding that ford would crank 800HP out of the 5.2 and give it a warranty. That thing is gonna be fast as hell and give the demon a run for its money on the street... even on the strip, and handle way better. Still...while it will be an ass kicker, it just won't be real special... sort of like the current hellcat. Not special...even tho it will outperform it in every catagory known to man.
Is the demons HP numbers with race gas or is that 93?
I think there's an aspect of power delivery that will make it pretty special, as will the handling. ZL1 will have a very hard time.

Thanks for the pic, I get it now.
As far as 3800 lbs, that would most likely be the R version and in a manual tranny. I can't see a regular version with a back seat, AC etc weighing at less than 3950 in an auto, even with a lot of carbon fiber and aluminum. We'll see, but if it comes with 800 HP and weighs in at less than 4000lbs, on certain tracks, it will still be a freaking animal.

Gotcha! Would make sense. I for one hope they pull tech from the GT! I would love to see the interior styling from the GT used in the GT500!
