Has anyone swapped out the air filter that comes with the Whipple to a shorter filter so it's easier to remove and clean?

I'd like to see what dimensions are being used if anyone has.

Whipple is working on one as we speak. I would say standby for a couple of weeks. My situation was related to something different in which a shorter air filter would benefit along with easier removal or install for service. I will update this post once I have it if you'd like.

Thank god. I was looking on K&N's site and they have all sorts. I was eye-balling the 6.5" long, conical filter. That should be fairly easy to move around.

Anyone have the needed measurement of the Whipple filter ID mount surface, OD of filter big and tapered side as well as length.

I just had the damn thing off and meant to measure it. I'm pretty sure it's a 5" ID and 5.2" OD and length of 9"

This is the one that I think would work but I just need to make sure the measurements work

The whipple filter is 8 3/4" length and 6 1/8" ID at the mouth.

Dang, that's quite a bit wider than I thought. Hopefully Whipple releases their new air filter soon!

Here is Whipples new air filter. I wouldn't consider this an easier filter to install/remove as it is only a 1/2 inch shorter and the base is the same. This filter is correcting an issue I had with the original which was rubbing against the ground wires that the tip of the filter was touching and eventually caused it to break creating an electrical havoc with my car. I would advise anyone to check theirs as it will eventually lead to the same problem IF yours is touching.

Here is pics of my ground wire that broke, the filter marks rubbing and my fix plus a shot of how close or what contact is made.

What are the benefits of the new filter besides for making it more accessible for cleaning?

As I said two posts above yours there isn't any benefit for install or removal of the filer. It's benefit is protecting the ground straps. It would be nice if there was an easier way to service the filter though.
