I truly believe people with the after shifter install vibrations are due to incorrect installation.

Yup - really could be for sure man. I am not discounting that at all.

What should I be checking for in your opinion? I assume it has to do with the way the transmission is remounted and not the actual shifter unit.

I'll get out and hammer on it the next dry day. Might have to redo it haha.

Don't drop or strike the transmission mount. It's scrap otherwise. How much did you lower the trans during the shifter install? Engine mount damage could of also occurred. But my guess is that it's more towards the trans alignment.

Just a couple of inches at most. I assume alignment as well. Weather should dry up next week. Might just take it out in the rain tonight anyway.

I was about to place an order for this and just saw this vibration. I m curious to know what the solution will be for JN66.

How can it be the transmission mount though, it looks very simple. 4 bolts go right in, no adjustment whatsoever.

Wouldnt it be safer to just remove the exhaust and driveshaft (or part of them) rather than dropping the transmission and hanging it on engine mounts like that?

Again overthinking.

If you don't drop the trans you will not be able to remove the 10m bolt on top.

Just took it for a quick road test - and I have the new updated parts.

I wasn't able to move too quick due to the rain and the Cup 2s...but one thing I noticed right away was a hell of a lot more vibration in the seat.

I'll get out on a dry day and rip it a bit more and report back. I have a track day scheduled on the 19th as well.

The shifting was crisp though, real crisp.
Similar thing happened to me.

I also had my car on the alignment rack last night for about 4 hours. I centered the front k member as it was off by 1/8 inch. I was hoping that would help by aligning everything.

I'm going to lower the trans again today and take another look.

I have a trackday Sunday and will see if it breaks in

Should people be marking things so they know the alignment with white out or something? I didnt watch the install video.

I won't be able to take it in until next week due to weather. I am just going to bring it in to the shop.

If someone can explain what alignment this is we are talking about which could contribute to this, that would be great. I watched this video probably 10 times now and I dont understand what we are aligning here that can help this issue (or introduce it). It seems like there is no play at all in any of the components, they connect using bolts etc. even lowering the transmission and raising it, it has 4 bolts there is no way to align the transmission. It goes down and then goes right back up.

Would be curious if George chimes in here.

I hope the outcome of this isnt "due to factory production tolerances some cars will emit more NVH and its a hit or miss".

And if it is indeed like above, then would it possible to take a test drive before cutting the stock boot with the new shifter but without that leather piece? There is an electronic connector which without the car wont start, I m not sure whether that is part of the boot that we are cutting or the other center console. My suggestion is basically we install the center console but leave the metal piece exposed and just screw the knob like that and go for a quick drive. If there is a massive vibration, we revert back to stock before cutting things and making a permanent change.

I just watched the video. Take this for what it is but - did anyone tighten the trans bracket while they had the jack underneath still?

I would thread the bolts like one thread before hand tight and pull out the jack. Let the transmission align itself to the motor mounts along the longitudinal axis then tighten the cross brace bolts 1/4 turn at a time in an opposite manner until spec.

The jack can cause even 1/16" misalignment and the brace torqued down will cause more harmonic issues.

Edit: a raised car no matter how stiff in someone's garage will flex the chassis even fractionally. When re tightening this can cause issues. I would almost be weary of doing this mod without the whole car jacked evenly on stands level. All four corners.

Hi all,

I just finished up installing my Version 2 GT350 MGW shiftier. Before we Get into the review I want to tell you my back story. Last year when MGW announced that they were going to be making a shiftier for the GT350 I was very excited. I had put one of their shiftier's in my last Mustang a 2014 s197 GT. That shiftier transformed the car. What a huge difference no more lock out, very precise shifts, It was better than I expected ( how many times can you say that about something ). So as soon as they came out I was one of the first in line to order one. I followed the directions in the video exactly. I watched the whole video several times then watched it step by step doing just what I had seen. What could go wrong. I finished up the install am took it for a ride. The shifting was amazing just what I had expected. When the rpm hit 2K their was a small vibration that I noticed that was not their before. As the rpm's went up more it got worse. By the time it hit 4K it was so bad I had to head back home. I went through the whole installation video again to see what I had missed. When I installed my other shiftier nothing like this had ever happen. My instillation was just like the video to the next day I called George at MGW we discussed my insulation and he said at that point I was the first to have these issues. Later it turned out to be 5% to 10%of us that have this problem. He was great to work with. We tried to isolate the shiftier by adding rubber between the arms and the body of the shiftier and adding rubber under the rear were it touches the body. I worked for a couple of weekends with whatever George had sent me to try. After about a mouth I gave up. I reinstalled the factory shiftier. All the vibrations were gone but the shiftier felt so sloppy. So indeed all the vibrations were coming from the shiftier. All I could figure out was that their was something different about my car.

Once again as soon as I herd that MGW had a new design I was on the phone with George. He explained how he had made the shiftier and how the body was now isolated. I could not wait to try it. Fast forward to today when I installed the Version 2 shiftier. Just took it out for a ride and god does it shift good. like bolt action on a riffle. Their is still a hint of vibration at 4K but not bad at all very livable. With the first version my girlfriend could not stand it. I do think that the small amount that is still their is from my car. I believe that it is caused by the alignment of the drive train to body. I am guessing that some cars when the motor/transmission are installed they are off a little. next weekend I hope to have time to address this.

All in all for those on the fence - this is by far a great design that is of the highest quality built. Made by people who care about their customers. Who listen to their customers. Ford could certainly learn a lot from them. Don't wait pull the trigger you will be glad you did.

If you have any questions or thoughts please ask.

Jack
