2015-2016 Tech Pack and Base GT350 Cooler Solution Discussion

My issue has always been in traffic as my Gt350 is my daily driver. I have noticed if the ambient temp is 85 or higher I will go into limp mode in about a hour. Now that I have turned on the temp gauge I see the temp continue to climb till it hits about 296. So far I've hit limp mode 4 times in traffic and once going up the El Cajon pass in the middle of summer. I'm putting on the shelby scoop this weekend and I hope it will prolong the time it takes to heat up. I know it's not a fix but I hope it will help.
I took this pic today after 30 min in traffic never even hitting 40mph with 72 degrees outside.

I say we all post pic of our trans temps this summer. Seperate thread. I'd start but the highest I have now only shows 238 when it was 75...driving like a granny.

That seems pretty high already considering the driving and weather conditions. I have to get on doing some coding so I can monitor mine.

I have my temp also up on my 16' tech pack.

I found my highest temps occur after coming off the highway then driving on secondary roads. Wish I had taken pics then but will plan on taking and posting them this summer.

Good thing. My engine temps don't get in the 230's. Obviously the fluids in the trans will break down extremely fast compared to a track package.

People were blowing me off last year when I was trying to tell them how hot these were getting. Now with FORScan others can monitor without the NGuage. Remember this also. Ford deliberately hid this temp, they did it for a reason.

Do you have passengers or any extra weight in the trunk? Sounds like the pass has climbing as well. In summer I can hit Limp at will just by putting my wife and son in the car. temps just keep climbing, never coming down.

From a transmission guy: " the effect is also cumulative. Short term exposure to high heat levels ( or even prolonged exposure to moderate heat) can break down the fluid to the point where even very short episodes of overheating will lead to failure." Things we get to look forward to. But all of us already know this, it isn't rocket science, heat is damaging and bad.

My engine oil temps do get into the 230s, haven't seen them get to the 240s,,,yet.

I had posted a technical data sheet from the fluid manufacturer, the viscosity and protective properties of the fluid are drastically different at 240 plus degrees and 180-200. This is not general info but that of the manufacturer Ford contracts for the fluid and its specifications.

But of course no-one cared and the same core group of track packers shit all over the thread.

If I was going to go the litigation route I would focus on the sustained high temperatures logged and witnessed, quality of the provided and recommended lubricant at those temperatures, and the published maintenance interval Combined with the purposeful decision to remove transmission temp from the interface.

Track guys have witnessed 250 under sustained high RPM and speed. 220-230 is all I have seen even in 98ish degrees.

I wouldn't say no one cared. Some of us were concerned and hopeful for a reasonable solution. I was looking for the info you posted on the trans fluid recently, would you have the link? Thanks in advance.

I think we were slow learners, we were so focused on the track issues and not really thinking thru about non track time until you guys got smart enough to start measuring and recording the temperature. Just ordered the gizmo so that I can get ForScan to communicate with my darling car so that it can feed me information.
