How would you not know?LOL how would you know?
I swear we have the same dry conversation every time "intercooler" comes up.You wouldn't know just driving the car, I'm asking how do you know you wouldn't benefit from the intercooler upgrade? I've seen you say this many times but wondering if or how you would know.
LOL... you are clowning. Won't fall for that one...I kind of figured you had no way to tell otherwise you would know that it definitely does make an improvement.
You haven't been driving it hard enough then. It becomes VERY noticeable even in 70ish degree temps. After a catch can, intercooler should be the first thing changed on these cars.Is the speed limit on the FP tune capped at 120 or does it go higher? I don't think my car will go past 120.
I would always pull over these days... too many cameras. Plus, if he/she put on the lights and you outrun but they have an accident and die, you are charged. But anyway... lol
If you are on the track, you definitely need an intercooler.
If not on the track or racing, you can replace, if it makes you feel good. I've ran the heck out my car on the road/hwy and don't see the mystical issues people talk about.
Big ETS intercooler was immediately noticeable for me. Power is very consistent now, definitely wasn't before. And I'm not tuned.I kind of figured you had no way to tell otherwise you would know that it definitely does make an improvement.
Thanks Brien! I'm glad you did the upgrade and are seeing the benefits! I'm ignoring the other one that just doesn't get it, he didn't get it before either and couldn't follow along yet insists "people just say that".Big ETS intercooler was immediately noticeable for me. Power is very consistent now, definitely wasn't before. And I'm not tuned.
Uhhh.... That's all a bigger intercooler does, with or without a tune, anyway. An intercooler is independent of a tune, so it will act the same way regardless.Oh I did not try to out run the truck. I slowed the hell down and prayed he was just trying to scare the shit of me which he did. I don't think I'll be going that fast in the future. Pretty sure that would have been a 4-5 pt ticket(s).
Performance wise, without a pro tune, a larger intercooler well do nothing except help with keeping the engine and turbo cooler which is more than enough reason for me to think about upgrading it. I am not expecting major heat soak on the road and not expecting to buy a FMIC for daily driving.
Do you monitor your charge temps? I've no idea if you have an accessport or NGauge to know if you do. I'm guessing you don't though based upon this answer. If you did you would see that you can make a full pull in say 3rd gear from 3000rpm to 6000 and your charge temps would start to go up. This actually wouldn't be the case with an aftermarket intercooler. My temps either stay the same or in some cases go down slightly through a pull. There is plenty of proof from multiple performance shops and tuners on how bad the stock intercoolers are on all ecoboost vehicles and the benefits aftermarket ones provide. Is the speed limit on the FP tune capped at 120 or does it go higher? I don't think my car will go past 120.

Kind of hard to have an aggressive tune on a stock intercooler. And with some intercoolers and charge pipes, you then run the risk of dropping pressure delivery.Uhhh.... That's all a bigger intercooler does, with or without a tune, anyway. An intercooler is independent of a tune, so it will act the same way regardless.
The intercooler will act the same way yes. The car will not. The bigger intercooler will cause a pressure drop if the car has not been tuned for it, I lost about 2psi when I installed mine.Uhhh....
