If you have a GT350 and buy the OEM spoiler, splitter, rear seat delete, remove the resonators, brakes, and buy the CF wheels; functionally what is different between your car and a R exactly? Other than the VIN

I dont see the big deal honestly. If you want to paint your snake badge red or yellow or blue or purple who cares? Still a Shelby. It's not like it has a different engine and you're putting on aero to make it a higher trim.

Another thing I do not like are the gt350 knock off wheels on ecoboost, v6 and GT. I don't mean it disrespectfully I just think with all the wheel choices out why would anyone want a stock looking boat anchor wheel.

Some like the look of the wheel. I dont have the knockoffs, but I can't say I like any of the regular Mustang wheels offered; and they are all fairly narrow too.

Even a GT350 owner could benefit from the "knockoff" wheels as they are lighter than the OEM. I believe the OEM are 31 pounds which is on the heavy side. The SVE 350 20x10 are 26.4 pounds, so 4.5 pounds each. Almost 20 pounds off the GT350 of unsprung weight.

The stock GT wheels (base GT and PP) are over 30 pounds each too. Bigger diameter wheels and 5 pounds or more less each.

I'm with the others. Parts from a higher trim/model don't bother me. for example R parts on a base GT or M parts on a 2-3-4 series, but labeling it as the car your taking parts from is just weird.

True but I guess my point was does painting a color in your Shelby badge trying to pretend? It's just a color/style. There is no "R" badge people are putting on.

It's either a R VIN or not when you buy or sell the car. It's still a Shelby too. Upbadging a V6/GT/Eco is poser I do agree.

The dealership blue one, R or not, is still a nice car.

For $64k it's still not a TERRIBLE price. Its lightning blue so must be a 2017, so the base price was $56kish with destination.

Someone put thousands of dollars on carbon fiber bits into the car. The rockers alone are $1100, back lower valance $1500, front splitter with the upright pieces is $2300, spoiler $800-1000, mirror caps $150-200 (mostly Anderson Composites prices).

Probably $6k or more just in the CF we can see in the photo alone. Add stripes and wheels/tires another $3k easy.

Depnding how many miles on it $64k for probably $10k of upgrades isn't terrible.

The window sticker is a tell too, it's not red. Same with the stripe on the steering wheel, it's the GT350 wheel. It could have just been an ignorant salesperson too to be fair.

Reminds me of a guy I seen today with an F150 that had every Raptor decal he could find on it... The bedsides, tailgate, rockers and even on the hood! Maybe it's because I have a real '17 Raptor but I just thought WTF... Now I did add the Red pins on my GT350 because it makes the LB pop on the SB paint but never will I add an R badge or anything stating it's something it's not. Wing, wheels, splitter, stripes etc. I can see but not blatantly putting RAPTOR on a Lariat or any other model F150. I've seen a lot of older F150's with the decals and wheels as well but anyone that knows the actual truck knows right away it's a poser truck.

Not sure why anyone would want to ruin a nice car by turning itinto a fake. It's like when people take a beautiful authentic Carrera S and turn it into a fake GT3 - yah that's a really cool fake replica you have there....

eBay makes it WAY too easy to fake just about any trim level on just about any vehicle... Hell even Amazon has R badging and OEM GT350 fender badges for the GT and ecoturd guys! If someone will buy it, someone will sell it. IMO to buy say an R badge you should have to order by Vin and prove why you need it. Would cut down on the poor people getting shafted during resale. But then again if they'd do their research it would be easy to spot a fake via the vin. A lot of people get caught up in the moment and impulse buy though. A dealer selling a fake is just very poor ethics!

I agree with you. My thought is, its not an R, it'll never be an R, so why try to make it one. Personally, I prefer some things about the non-R over than the R...specifically the track-pack spoiler, I think it looks/flows better with the lines of the car than the R spoiler. Just my opinion though, to each his own. I respect all takes at personalizing the car to you, and I get adding a few bits here and there from an R that you like. But to go at it with the goal of trying to fool others into thinking its an R is just a waste of an already great car...it kind of brings the car down IMO.

Its funny you bring this up because I was recently contacted by a local dealer that I had inquired about allocations with when I was first looking into buying a 350. They told me that they had a slightly used R and asked if I was interested. I had already ordered mine but was curious anyway since it was local so I had them send me pics (attached). The first thing I noticed was the seats and replied to the salesman and told him that it wasn't an R. He never responded back. Flash forward a few weeks and I see the car at a local car show. My first thought was "I wonder if the owner thought it was an R when he bought it", lol. They were selling it for $68,995 reduced to $64,900 so I feel like they were hoping to find a buyer that thought it was an R, very shady.

I love that car, BTW. I'd own it. I remember the OP posted about it - custom liquid blue paint with stripes painted on. Painful to paint a new car and in most ways, it diminishes the value but I bet the paint is spot on.

Here's a question.
I have a magnetic with black ott stripes. I do not like the gloss stripes and already have a complete brand new set of oem replacement stripes that I have not applied yet. I like the matte black stripes of the R, I also like the matte black-red pin stripe-with gray center FR350S. Would any of you replace the original stripes for either of these or remove the stripes and keep them off? I'm not going to get rid of the replacement stripes because I'd rather hang onto them for future use.
