I'm sure you're already aware of this, but if not, maybe it will help. That vented middle section on top of your dash pops off with clips, and is great for stashing the GPS antenna.
I had a feeling that pops off! I didnt bother trying as i was afraid to break more clips lol I need to start buying clips they keep breaking! Ill try that tomorrow, thank you!

curious on how the SAT radio will work, does it come with everything needed as far as antenna?
No the antenna for SAT isnt supplied but the connector to connect to the antenna installed in the premium cars is part of the harness. I also saw an app for Sirius XM on the play store yesterday. Maybe ill buy an antenna to see what happens.

Yeah and according to the ebay seller HD radio, but the latter is questionable...

I actually setup a donation fund on my Facebook on a Mustang page for getting this thing. In 10 minutes, I've raised $70 towards it. I'm gonna order it, go over all forms of functionality, and hopefully partner up with StangATX (if he's interested) on developing what's already there, and making it as flawless as possible. Being Android, it should be immensely easier to tinker with than WinCE.

That app just uses your data connection, not SatRadio antenna.

Yeah theres two micro usb dongles behind the unit and one standard usb dongle behind. Yeah! thats what i was looking into, i was going to ask you if that was okay with you if i went that route as its a lot easier lol, I was actually browsing those two apps on the google play store in the car yesterday
No problem. Let me know how it goes and if you need more help!

For sure man! Let me know what I can do to help to make that unit a little better. We could maybe cook a custom ROM based on the one that's already in it. (I'm really thinking of using my old Nexus 7 tablet and make something out of it lol :D) Android is so much better than WinCE (More flexible)

Very nice work. I had my eye on this unit a few months back but didn't have the guts to be the guinea pig. I applaud you @Pablothertist . If I hadn't just picked up a full Premium unit yesterday I'd be all over this.

I'm thinking we could also incorporate parts of the Torque Pro app into it too. I would be SUPER excited to find out that it has a SIM slot in it somewhere, I'd need my hands on it to dissect it though. Ugh, I hate waiting!

Ill check for you!

Thanks, and if you see any markings/model number on the back, anything like that, it could be helpful too! If we can get a SKU of some sort, we might be able to get a group buy in from a manufacturer/distributor for less.

Also, having previously owned an Android head unit, one concern is that extreme heat and cold wreaks havoc on them, and makes them not want to turn on. What climate do you live in?

I think I have the latest Torque Pro .apk somewhere. I'm sure we can add that OBDLink MX (ForScan) on the car with that app as well. It'll be nice to know if it has a sim slot for sure but if not there's always a work around... We could use our phone as Hotspot (For rooted Android phones is pretty easy to bypass the ISP restriction lol).
