I am thinking about going whole hog to smooth out shifting action. Soon I will be getting MGW x spec, Steeda clutch spring, Optimum fluid, and Boomba Trans mount. I already have BMR diff lockout and I am considering the BMR motor mounts. To those that have done it, is it worth the hassle? I can change the mounts on my old truck in half an hour. I know I won't be that lucky but how long and how bad is it?

I know this maybe should have gone in the drivetrain forum but it bolts on to the motor.

Looks simple to do. I already order mines from UPR as I heard they are "softer" and less NVH. Will see after I install them. Planning on following this video:

UPR street adjustable motor mounts is the way to go if you ask me, perfect balance for street/drag or track. Others are very harsh tried a few and got these and have had them ever since. You can only lower the engine 1/2" till it hits the steering rack with the stock oil pan just so you know. Its 1-3hr install depending on hand tools or air tools. I had purchased the boomba race spec trans mount and took it out after a week, way too much NVH for me its just sitting in a box now. Put my white line trans insert back in and haven't messed with it since. Its a good balance between Stiffness and street drivability if you ask me.

Advice about the Boomba trans mount...don't install it. It is obnoxiously loud, unless your car is track only or something like that, it is absolutely unbearable.

Good info :headbang:

I was going to lower it 3/4". So I should only do 1/2" then (leaving one spacer on it). Good to know!

Well crap, I have one ready to install, but after reading your experience, guess I am going with some other one. Thanks!

Thanks guys. I'll give UPR's a look, I'm already picking up a few things from them anyway. Was there a noticeable improvement in shifting feel or throttle response? Was the Trans mount NVH worse than diff lockouts (aluminum)?

It's different...with diff lockouts it's about gear whine (constant volume and frequency depending on RPM), with the trans mount is trans and engine noise.

Basically, you get a free catback, super loud at 3k RPM plus...plus all your usual clutch pedal amplified so it's plainly and obviously audible and you get the hear the inner workings of the transmission, synchros, shifter noises, clutch engaging/disengaging, etc.

That sound pretty bad! I wonder if I should install it and give it a shot first before removing it. I am also going to install a MGW as well!

You can use it for a week! before you get sick of it, that is. Thanks god it's an easy swap. I didn't even take apart the horizontal support, just lifted the trans a bit with the jack.

I actually used it for like 2 weeks before I put my exhaust in, gives some feedback and may actually be useful to teach a newbie how manual transmissions work and drive.

Sounds like semi or school bus of the 80's and it takes away the perceived quality of the car.

I'm glad you guys gave me a heads up before I bought it. I'll pass on it and put the money on other mods.

Good idea, too bad I already have it lol. Now I have to sell it and look for a different one. Maybe not need one after the install, but will see.
