I love the color scheme on the GT350, my dealer has one in blue, it's a great looking car. Any owners here with a C6 or C7 that can give some comparisons? I am having a hard time deciding between a z51 or a gt350. I spend some time at the track, but mainly use it for distance trips in the summer. I have owned two s550 5.0's but no experience with the 5.2.

Both are phenomenal vehicles; I own a 350R and my father owns a 15 Z51 Stingray which I've spent considerable time in.

Overall, I think it depends on what you prioritize most in the car. Without question, the Corvette offers a more comfortable ride, better fuel economy, slightly better performance than a non-R 350, but with a much more upscale interior. It also has a better silhouette IMO and has a more typical "supercar" like shape/look to it. Tons of power, torque everywhere, transmission is fantastic, steering is better than the 350's, and you are very low to the ground which is nice for a sports car.

On the contrary, I think the 350 has a more unique engine, I think it sounds better, I so far like the engagement of the transmission lever itself more, and it seems to be in general a more "exciting" car to drive. I think a large part of that is down to the high revving nature of the motor combined with a very loud factory exhaust, whereas the Vette is much more subdued in comparison.

I personally love high revving engines and love a very responsive (read as very blippable) throttle, so the LT 6.2 V8 in the Vette is a little too slow in that regard for me personally. On throttle response in gear in the Vette is obviously fantastic as it is NA like the 5.2 Voodoo, but with even more torque.

Ultimately, I think between the two the Vette is a better overall car and offers more value for the $ with its higher quality interior along with its lower, lighter chassis that comes with its own inherent benefits. The 350 offers a more unique experience IMO, but you pay largely for that experience (i.e intangibles) that aren't seen in a high quality interior or exotic body shape, but rather the driving sensations.

I happen to prioritize those intangibles over everything else which is why I'm not driving a Z51/Grand Sport/Z06 today

If you can get your hands on a February 2016 Car and Driver, there's a head to head with the Z51 and the standard GT350. GT350 wins...including a 2 - 10 loss in Features/Amenities.

Here is the article, in which the 350 came out on top.

Like I said in my last post, it depends on what the OP prioritizes. If he for example likes the idea of the 6.2 LT1 as much as the 5.2 Voodoo, (i.e the FPC V8 isn't a huge "wow" factor for him), then the Vette is a far better overall car for the money considering they cost near enough the same.

If the unique engine and the intangible benefits are more important, he will probably find more joy in a 350!

Before my GT350 I had a ZL1, before that a C6 Z06 and before than a C6 Z51.

Simply put the GT350 is a drivers car as compared to other more refined bells and whistle cars. I like a performance car to have a raw element to them, not room for a set of golf clubs in the rear. The only other sports car that reminds me of my Shelby was my 99 Viper GTS.

I wasn't casting any aspersions your way brother. I thought you gave your good point of view. And having no personal experience with the Vette, could only offer what I read. I only referenced the features/amenities because that was the biggest disparity, yet the GT350 still earned enough elsewhere to eek out the victory.

My C7 was a POS and not at all the build quality I would expected. Some how its always said the newest iteration is soo much better than before but its still behind the pack of the industry. I had numerous interior and exterior issues until the engine popped and it gave up the ghost. I was never very confident on its handling since the computer and tires was responsible for its qualities rather than the geometry and car itself. I know because I turned everything off and the car always bit rather than bark in protest. C7 is being revamped next year marking only the second time in corvette production a model went 4yrs the C2 was a 4yr production run back in 1963. The car is flawed and why there is a quick jump to the C8 blame the GM bankruptcy and need for cash infusion why the car looks better than it really is. This can quickly become a stingray thread but I guarantee you I will have a response experienced in the 1st person why its no good just accept my personal opinion on the matter other's may feel differently and that's okay to each their own.

This is my first Ford product me being a chevy guy in fact I also bought a Hellcat which is a Dodge product both to replace my C7. I paid 81k for the vette and 126 for both GT350 and Hellcat talking car by itself without incidentals like tax etc. However I find each on their own although much cheaper as being a better car than the vette. I was planning on 120k on a car and couldn't find anything better than a GT350 and Hellcat and why I made a double purchase rather than a single one. I would say only the Porsche 911 falls in line for under 120k but thats what I traded for the stingray and wanted something different. A 911 Porsche is an excellent car but boring again too many computers taking the experience out of driving. Thats why the cayman is the drivers car being mid engine and offered in GT4 and GTS trim.

Here's my thread on the stingray forum. The thread count is over 700 on complaints in the problems and issue section and I wasn't the only guy with a motor popping.

I drove, and still have a 1993 Corvette. I'm not really brand loyal. That said, I have had 3 Corvettes in my life but this is my 5th Mustang.

Sounds like you bought the wrong car for yourself.

If it happens, and it's not a POS, I'm in for the mid engine ZR1. That will be my first.

Guess you still have your Ford glasses on... clearly didn't read the entirety of my post. Comparing Z51 vs non-R 350, here in Canada at least, the Z51 is thousands cheaper... I think it is a better car than a non-R 350.

I chose the R because of the unique aspects that it has as I mentioned, along with the fact that it is a rare car (IMO), and is unlike anything else on the road. If the Vette had a Voodoo in its body you can bet your ass I'd be driving a Vette right now. I've already made numerous posts stating I prefer my vehicle to the Vette, so does it really upset you that much when someone isn't constantly stroking themselves to the 350 or Ford that you have to state they bought the wrong car?

PS. Weren't you the one going off your head in the hose thread about how Ford sucks, their customer service sucks, their QC sucks, their dealerships sucks, etc. etc.? Coming from the same guy who proudly claims "I buy nothing but Ford's and always will"... Kind of the definition of insanity if you didn't realize... "Performing the same task repeatedly expecting a different outcome" :headbonk:

No worries man, I just linked the article for the OP's viewing pleasure. Like any of those tests where categories are literally scored, I think the outcomes will always be contested, but I think the 350 rightfully won there. It is a more fun vehicle to drive and when it comes to sports cars for me, that is what rises as being most important

I think the Motor Trend "Head2Head" series is a bit easier to watch, as nothing other than statistical data is shared via "scores", so the rest of the video where they talk and compare the cars are heard subjectively, rather than literally compared via a (8 vs 10) for example.

I had a 91 Beretta GT and a 97 S10. I now have a GT350, does that count. :D

Its all relative I am of the opposite opinion and here state side the GT350 is cheaper than a 3LT Z51 with all the options. Mine with everything they could put on it less a battery charger came in at 76,620 sticker while my GT350 was 61K. Due to my experience I prefer the GT350 but its all personal.

Now quality wise thats a moot point since all american cars have loose standards and that putting it lightly included my Hellcat which was built in Ontario Canada so its all subjective. As far as count for count I've had more issues on my C7 than both my cars put together.

But again all subjective you can say 1 in 10 are bad and the guy with the bad car will come back and say 100% are bad just depends on the straw you draw..

You could also argue japanese are better but honda and toyota are built in the states by US workers so who the hell knows what these mfg. are doing and what they are not doing.

I remember an episode of Top Gear where Hammond was being ridiculed for showing up in a viper all they kept saying is look at those body gaps there as big as the nile.
