The next GT500 will shock many of us. It will be a straight line jackrabbit and quite capable of turning left and right on the new chasis which will have a couple more years of refinement.
Is this just wishful thinking? I don't see any 16 GT500.

I think you're pretty much right on this one... My guess it that it will be a GT350 without the MR and will likely finally get the auto option.

I think the MR shocks could play a large role in making the car hook for dual duty, if they have the bandwidth to do so. I had an old drag car that had 90/10 front and 50/50 rear biased shocks, which helped a lot in weight transfer for launching, MR could then switch back to "normal" for everyday driving. I too hope the auto is included, it would just be dumb to not have that option any more. A 500 10 speed auto would scorch the earth.

Agreed, but just considering costs... The 500 has to be affordable and if it is coming with new technology (5.2 CPC w/FI vs. 3.5EB TTDI) the loss of MR would help offset costs.

I suspect, though, it will likely be contained in a "package" of some sorts... Maybe a GT500 Track Pack?

MR shocks are less than a $2000 option on GM vehicles. I think it is far too defining a characteristic to leave off the GT500. I think Ford will take the Voodoo engine, remove the flat plane crank and components designed specifically for high RPM, and replace them with a cross plane crank and something like the Whipple S/C used in the cobra jet engine. They'll add 10,000 to the price of the GT350 along with additional luxury options and an optional automatic, and have a very capable car for street, strip, and road course. It will still be affordable, compared to other cars, running at a $60,000 to $75,000 price range.
