I purchased my 2015 Mustang GT PP 50 Year Anniversary Pkg with 7000 miles on it on October 31st. Less than a month later (and around 800 miles) I noticed a chattering noise in when I push the gas or let off the gas in 1st and 2nd gear. At that point, I called the dealership to schedule an appointment which is coming up on Saturday (Jan. 7th). Now, I'm noticing it happening when shifting to every gear and when going in to 6th, I am noticing a clunk after it's in gear.

The vehicle is stock, now has 10500 miles on it, and is 90% highway miles. I have never used line lock or beaten on the car.

Any ideas what it is? Will the warranty cover this issue?

My understanding is the factory warranty does not tranfer from one owner (the original owner) to the other ( you). But if there was a dealership warranty signed by you then yes that warranty should cover it. This is a certified car right?

I'm pretty sure it is. It was purchased from a large Ford dealership. Honestly, I didn't even inquire about that when buying it. :headbonk:

Is it just a noise you hear around the shifter area? I had a chatter noise/ scraping sound under acceleration and in between first and second gear shifts. Thought for sure my tranny or clutch was going. Turned out to be the reverse lockout collar on the shifter. Pulled up on it like a member said and noise chatter went away. It surely sounded mechanical to me and I was a bit shocked that it worked. I still have a buzz through clutch pedal so Im not out of the woods. Worth a shot

The factory warranty most definitely transfers to the new owner... It's from original sale date of original owner, new owner has the balance of that warranty. Now whether the dealer will cover a clutch issue is a totally different story.

Honestly what you're describing is what I keep hearing is normal from three dealers and I have experienced it in other S550s. Especially those with Torsen diffs. But... could be an issue.

From what multiple people are telling me, the clutch is covered until 12k as a wearable item.

this sounds like what i was experiencing(light chatter while at low speed and low RPM in 2nd gear. it would only do it once the temp was up. but they told me its the synchros in 1st and 2nd.. im not real familiar with clutches so not sure if that makes sense or not.

I didn't want a crappy Ford clutch anyway. Tried to get the labour cost covered for the shop that installed a McLeod RST, but they wouldn't.
If it's under warranty, Ford will only install Ford parts. Consider the warranty job itself is warrantied parts and labor wise. There is no legal way to waive your warranty on the warranty repair. So they'd be left holding the bag if your McCleod tanked or whatever.

Correct on the 12k mile wear item. You have a year as well (usually).

I'm interested to see what the dealership tells you.
