To the OP I'll add this: consider what fits your needs best if money is a big enough issue. If money isn't that much of a factor, which one do you want more? What mods would you like to do to it? (if any). I hang with an EB owner as well as V8 owners and it's all good, I've never bashed anyone for what they pick. It's YOUR money, at the end of the day you're the one making the payments and gotta live with it.

Lets put things in perspective. The New Fusion sport will outrun an eco boost Mustang!! It will not outrun a Gt. I dont know about you but i dont want to be looking at fusion tailights!

Since you live in Oman and fuel is basically free, I would have no issues going for the GT and spending more time refuelling. Consider an auto if the commuter traffic is heavy though. Another benefit of your location is the temperature. No really cold running.

At $28 per tank what's not to love! Try the equivalent of $100 per tank, which is why I commute by train :(

When you put it that way yeah
I wish the Dealership would let test drive them both each a week lol I would find the answer quickly
Anyway currently I am 60% GT - EB 40%
I asked a friend to let me test drive his 2015 GT

With the EcoBoost a test drive won't work... you MUST get a tune put on it.... the Ford Performance tune will work great (that is what I have). It smooths the car out and you don't loose MPG (mine seems to have went up).

I can not recommend the EB without a tune.... no way. FP tune you keep the warranty, which is a good thing and your local dealer should be able to install.

You seem to be worried about gas.... if you don't get the EB, maybe you should stay with your Taurus, if an option, for a couple of years until you save more money for the GT.

And not sure what car insurance in your country looks likes... but if you are worried about saving 5 mpg, you should be really worried about the cost of insurance every 6 months going from a taurus to Ecoboost to GT. For my location it would have been a LOT more money to get insurance on the GT.

I don't think we have FP tune we don't have even the Premium version of the Ecoboost (planning to buy it from Dubai) our Dealerships are barebones compared to yours they don't know shit about tunes I am pretty sure if I ask them about FP tune they won't know about it or just say no mod allowed.

As for the insurance it is yearly here so not that much of a problem and it can be reasonably cheap

I'm guessing your version of the Mustang is the same as the European ones which basically come with the premium package and most of the performance goodies as standard.

You should also think about where you are coming from... I came from an old Opel/Vauxhall with sub 100bhp and for me the Ecoboost is more car than I really needed... STOCK. (I'm planning on getting a tune later just for kicks...) Further, speed limits up here REAAAALLY limits the point of anything stronger and I even have to start breaking the Ecoboost long before it wants to so as to not go over the limit.

Oh, and the damn taxes ;)

hasnt the lower models sold 3x more than the gts? Thats a lot of revenue. I think its a big reason the Mustang had survived for so long.

Hmm... that is hard then. I found this forum looking for a bit more power.

When I first test drove the eco it was a lot of power since I was coming from a stock honda 4. 170ish hp to 300... wow...

The stock tune is hard to live with on hwy when doing things like passing. Car sounds like it is going to die. With a tune, that issue, and all others I had are eliminated.

Not bashing the eco... love my car. Even after driving the 8 and then wondering if I should trade in my car for an 8 and test driving the 8 again, I am sticking with the eco. Eco is a fun car but, IMO, needs a tune.

Guess I've said all I can on this.. good luck egoman... sure you will make the correct choice.

When I had my EB, got about 18mpg avg...GT, 14.5mpg and exponentially higher smiles per gallon.

Don't make the same mistake I did, get the GT.

What on earth are you filling up with...
Maybe gas is very expensive in the area? That's the only thing I can think of.

But for real, how are you only getting 18 mpg on the Ecoboost?
