The service parts part no. for the 2016 shocks is FR3Z-18125-W. The mfg/engineering part number on the shocks is FR3C-18W002-LF
Thanks!

Can you confirm that these are for the 2015? Fr3c 18w002 for the rear and fr3c 18045 for the front.

What about the NON PP ones? I just want to ensure I'm not getting a standard strut/shock vs the PP ones.

Well, the suffix is what's important. FR3C is the prefix which identifies MY, model, and a couple other things to the plant. 18W002 and 18045 are what's called the Base, which is the identifier of that type of part across all vehicle lines (18W002 is rear shock). You would need the suffix to determine the pedigree. I believe KE or KF is the 2015 GT PP rear shock suffix. I know it's K*, so that will help you. M* is the EB PP.

The non-PP has a slightly different shock shaft diameter, so that's one way to tell.

Yup, non-PP is a larger diameter. I had to order a set of bumpstops for the rear when upgrading to PP.

Uh... no. My 2016 PP bounced on the highway as much as the rest of them.
Thanks for the reply, well no use in changing to the 16 shocks/struts on my 15 PP.Was thinking about it if I found some more cheap take offs, but guess not

At the bottom of this post is a pic of the label from my new shocks. What follows, is a copy of the entire pm transcript of my convo with Benny at Levittown a couple of months ago, whom I consider to be an expert re parts for our cars:

I would also appreciate any forum discount codes and/or shipping codes available.

Thank you.

Michael

Hi Michael,

There is a later build version so I have provided these ones as they would be updated.

These shocks can be found here https://levittownfordparts.com/oemparts/FR3Z-18125-X

Use code vip5 for 5% off

thanks,
Benny

Thank you for responding, Benny. Before ordering, I just want to make sure that the part# you supplied above (FR3Z-18125-X) is indeed the rear shock for the Mustang GT coupe, with performance package?

I'm going to install these as an upgrade to my base model Ecoboost, and want to make sure they'll fit. The part # I had been given was:
FR3Z-18125-W, but I'm assuming that when you say in your pm that there's a "later build version," you're saying that the part # has changed in the new GT models. Please confirm.

Also (stupid question here), are shocks different between the right and left side, or do I just buy 2 of them, and they're identical?
Finally, is there free shipping, or no? Thanks again,

Michael

Yes I used this VIN http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Mustang...m=401213048535

The L and W are both earlier build models. In this case they are the same for Left and Right.

No Michael only the code I mentioned earlier

Hi, Benny. I really don't mean to be a pain, but I just want to make sure.

I looked at the link to the ebay car you used for the VIN. I'm sorry, but I didn't see anything in the description for that GT, indicating that it had the "Performance Package" (aka the "High Performance LS Pkg.). As the shocks are different for the base model GT vs. the GT equipped with the PP, I want to be certain. Given the price, I'm pretty sure you're correct, but please confirm. Sorry for the hassle.

Michael

Hi Michael,

Its no trouble I understand. The VIN on my end indicates it is the LS high perf package. The vehicle is also shown with the correct PP wheels and slightly visible front Brembo brakes.

-Benny

Maybe I'll pick up a pair of FR3Z-18125-X to see if anything feels different between them.

Yours doesn't bounce on the highway?
It has to be the right type. Smooth asphalt doesn't make it bounce. Concrete with its expansion joints does.

The ride is pretty stiff, I wouldn't call it bouncy at all... much stiffer than my 3.7L 2013 too. No issues, pretty comfortable for a performance car

So I guess you are right about the new X part number. I just did a spring install on a new 2017 pp GT and the rear shocks are different. The compression feels exactly the same but the rebound is improved. This is based on just pushing the shaft down and by looking at the shaft come back up and comparing it to the 2016 pp shocks. The shocks mounts are little different also same goes to the dust cap.

BmacIL check out my post on top.

The mounts might be same can't remember the previous years that well but the dust cap is new.

Thanks. 2016 was LF suffix, and looks like they did a slight tweak for 2017 with the LG suffix. It's a smaller change than 2015 to 2016, when they went from K* to LF.
