I bought a set of the Ford Performance hood struts and had them delivered but have not opened the packages. I just noticed that the Ford part# M-16826-MA indicates on some websites that it does NOT fit the GT350 but does not provide any added information. I cannot understand why looking at the kits from Redline since they look identical. Does anyone know why the Ford Performance part fits all other S550 stangs but not the GT350?? And why wouldn't Ford make a part for their own vehicle?

I had the exact same question. Curious if you got any PM's or otherwise with any additional info? I'm guessing maybe the mounting brackets might be different on the S550 kits vs the GT350 kits.

Thanks,

Redline has different part numbers for the GT350 vs. regular Mustang. This implies that they are not interchangeable.

The Redlines require you drill your battery cover on the GT350. I had a different brand on my 16 GT but the Redlines are far superior. A small hole in the battery box cover was worth it to me. I can't speak about the Ford version as I never even considered anything but the Redlines.

As the GT350 has unique hood, hinge assembly and fenders, we have designed a Hood QuickLIFT system specifically for this application. Our system uses our patent pending Bolt-In design for easy installation.
System Features:
1) Fit and finish: Our lower brackets and out unique insert system insures that they don't move around once installed. Our hood bracket has been designed for a perfect fit with the unique GT350 hood hinge.
2) Instructions: Full color instructions and video on how to install our system
3) Installation components: We include a 3/4" step bit with every system to make a perfect hole in the battery cover. We also include a plastic drill guide that perfectly locates where that hole needs to go.
4) Quality: Our brackets are Zinc plated then black powder-coated for maximum corrosion protection.
We have the BEST warranty in the business:
4 Years on our QuickLIFT PLUS
5 Years on our QuickLIFT ELITE

Our warranty covers ALL components including the gas springs!

I've read multiple time that the Ford Perf struts do not work. Go with Redline. I have them and they work GREAT.

I ordered, and had to return, the Ford Performance kit a few months ago as it doesn't fir the GT350 hood. That may have changed since then, but I don't think it has.

I have the Redline Struts, which work fine. However, one suggestion: do not remove the prop rod. If you have to get to the battery, one strut needs to be removed. The remaining strut is not powerful enough to hold up the hood, so you will need the prop rod.

I also added trimmed duct tape as a buffer material between the brackets and paint.

The battery cover can be rotated out of the way without removing the gas spring for battery access, but it is a little more tedious. We recommend cutting a small slit in the battery cover if you think you will frequently need access to the battery (see picture below).

I like to disassemble things.
Exactly what I did.

Very happy with the struts from Redline. Hardware is first class.

I have Redline Plus installed on my 350 (bought from LMR) and highly recommend them. I was on the fence about doing this, really not an urgent mod until... story time:

Pull over for gas. Guy rolls up in his F150, gets out and is really excited to talk about the car. Said its the first he's seen in public; asked if he could look at the engine. I pop the hood and grab the prop rod. You know that thing? That plastic part on the rod you're meant to grab onto, helps protect your hand against the heat? Yeah. That just popped off. So there I am, dumb look on my face, plastic thing in my hand and the hood isn't up. I kinda explain heh, uh, one sec man lemme put this cheap plastic thing back on this cheap rod.

And there you have it. Ever since the obvious benefit and reason for the part is easy access to the entire bay.

What is the difference between the Elite and Plus model? The color of the strut?
