Back in the day when waiting for my Mustang GT to arrive I was the first and loudest to brag about the low low insurance premium of £157.68 (£350 excess) from Direct Line.
That low price was for new business with a full 12 years NCD transfer for just me driving and no extras. I could have genuinely got that price by changing my Focus but in the end I got some transferred NCD from driving my wife's car and added her to the policy with legal protection and hire car plus and the actual premium was £340.55 which was not too bad I thought.
During the year we took the Mustang to Europe so added Direct Line Rescue breakdown recovery and even added my 23 year old son as a named driver.
Anyway the renewal premium came through today for a whopping £1052.70 .
I gave Direct Line a call and took off both my wife and son as named drivers, removed rescue and hire car plus and the reduced premium after a haggle is now £496.10
So this is an increase of over £150.00 for less cover and no named drivers and I even insure my Focus with them and can't drive both at the same time.
I blame you lot for smashing up your cars but maybe we need to expect some insurance hikes for Mustang drivers.
And on top of that the vehicle tax renewal came though today too for £515.00.
