What if I told you that you can fix this problem with a mere $525 investment. Is that something you might be interested in?
Yes I'm going to fix it, but with now messing with my warranty; it may not be right away.

I'm gonna drive it at Nuremberg this summer and that may cause me to speed up my decision.

No - I applaud you for doing what you want, but I don't want your solution. If I do a home grown solution it will be done my way, not yours. I really don't have the time in my schedule to do that, either.

That's the toughest part of this for me. I know enough to realize that I don't know anything - if that makes any sense. I work on FMEA all the time and I realize how many things can go wrong. Any non-warrantied solution is a big concern for me in my daily driver and occasional track car. If I were alone on the road and the track and only endangering myself I wouldn't care too much, but others could be hurt if a backyard engineered solution fails on the road. The potential liability is huge.

I may end up buying an entire track pack setup just to have a very robust and proven design. It's a lot of money and will take a fair amount of my time to install. After seeing my local dealers' efforts on installing a splitter with a very well-done video to work from, I'm not thrilled about trusting them to install lines with flammable fluid that pass through/near the engine compartment, especially if the final product carries zero warranty coverage. I think I'm good enough mechanically to get it installed correctly, but I'm really not thrilled about doing it myself either. So.. I'm trying to be patient and gathering as much info as I can to try to make the best decision on this.

I can chime in on this one since I have done it. The cooler is not below the drain hole, and on top of that, the cooler lines go straight, up, down, then back up. You have to use the pump to fill the lines and cooler. The process of doing so is easy. You put 2 quarts in the trans, run the pump for 10 second, put another quart in the trans, bump the pump until you have fluid coming out of the return line, attach the return line, add an additional 1/2 quart at a time running the pump for 2 minutes between until fluid is coming out of the fill hole. Then you're done. It takes around 4-4.5qts and the whole process is like 15-20 minutes.

I actually made a nifty little attachment for the hose barb so I can pump directly through that, so filling the trans is just a matter of undoing a hose clamp and working off a 3/8 line.
Oh, and sorry but I don't trust that that method will give you the proper oil level.

I may downplay my knowledge a little bit, but that's ok, I can understand you don't really know me and I am joking around a little bit.

And that method? Do you realize that "fill your transmission until it reaches the bottom of the fill hole." Is the method used to change your transmission oil?

If you admittedly know nothing about anything, don't jump out and say "wrong."

I'm sorry, but you continue to ignore many valid points brought up in this thread and even are resorting to misleading info in your post.

Two transmissions were sold at $2700, which is a great/fair price IMO. But, now it appears the cheapest you can get it four is $4000 plus labor and other lines/parts at an upcharge as well. How is this re-engineering when it is off the shelf components made for the car? And how is this at a discount? Also,
I have stated numerous times I think it is fair for Ford to make some money on the retrofit. Why are you choosing to ignore and distort what I and others have clearly said here?

You even admit customers were misled by Ford, but we are at the very least the whiny ones that are wrong. Talk about confused?
Jason,

My Cost on the transmission is $2750, so for $4000(Rounded Up) in parts and $1000 for labor is fair pricing. The transmission from Ford is about $4K so the FP version is a substantial discount. The cooler parts when used with the transmission includes everything making it basically a plug in play situation. If you opt to go with just the cooler you need to supply lines and a pump. I don't know how else to explain this but it is a fair value to updgrade a car to Track Pack Spec after the fact. I posted in this thread months ago what all the factory parts added up to right HERE

I was referring to all the differences in the factory wiring, Control modules and software.

Again, you are putting words in my mouth I do not appreciate, you keep referring to multiple posts I ignore, what did I not cover? What misleading information would you like be to addressed? Please stop making blanket statements about what I've said or not said and not provide some direction or example of how I have some how wronged and wounded you. Again, now everyone knows the kit is available and what it costs. It is less than the original option was, what am I missing about this not being a valid solution requested by the Customer. Please help me understand this. The solution is there, it's always been available, now it's just available for for less money. I'm just here not trying to insult anyones brain power but would you like me to place the order and set up and appointment at a local dealer for you? :repost:

I like to disassemble things.
Hack, is your FMEA experience transportation related or otherwise?

You don't seem to understand how basic physics work. Just because a car is going down the same path (eg. road or track) does not mean it's under the same stress as another car.

A 200hp BRZ barreling down a straight at WOT is not anywhere near under the same stress as a 525hp GT350 going WOT down the same straight. Not only will the GT350 achieve much higher speeds than the BRZ, but an engine with more than twice the amount of power will put a helluva lot more stress on its internals, transmission and drivetrain than the other.

So no, other "lesser" cars do not have the same stresses. That's why they are "lesser" cars, because they offer less performance and thus less stress on parts and may not need cooling like a powerful car.

Just for kicks, take a look at the amount of coolers and engineering it takes to properly cooldown a 1000hp Veyron. Why do you think that's the case? Because it has more power and thus its parts are under much more stress than a 200hp BRZ.
Lol, you prove the point that these cars should have never left Ford without coolers....

We definitely are not going to agree and I'm not going to go over the numerous legitimate points I feel you and others constantly ignore here about this topic.

Thanks, but no thanks on the offer as I have that covered. I'm also fully aware of my options.

I don't feel I was putting words in your mouth and I gave you a direct opportunity to fully explain what you meant by that post. You responded rhetorically asking me what you said that was wrong. I have a law enforcement degree and have/was affiliated with LE for many years so I guess when my bullshit meter goes off I'm quick to point it out. A good and bad thing about my LE experiences. I feel I was pretty much dead on with my assessment about what you meant in that post. If you meant something different, I apologize and I'd like you to clarify that post.

Actually that is the Ford Method for filling the factory track pack and R cars. I've attached it here. They use the same methods to fill the rear axle as well. Cooler and lines full of oil and transmissio/axle at proper level.

...or maybe your training has you expecting that everyone is out to harm you when in reality I was only trying to help you. I'll be sure to share your above comments with my fellow LEO SCCA members at our next district meeting  I won't be buying buying the beers that night. Thank you.
