Since picking out a separator is as hard as deciding what beer to drink, I figured i'd throw this out there for those interested. I bought the JLT 3.0 passenger separator for the 5.0 a while back. I don't drive my car often but when I do I drive it hard. I've probably put 500-1000 miles on it. It trapped a couple tea spoons of oil already which is pretty substantial. It's obviously working very well  Fit and finish with the factory style hoses is awesome too. I just take it off with little effort to clean it out. I would give it my vote. Not to say the others are bad. After a while they all do the same job. Just depends on which one you like more :headbonk:

I want to get one, but isn't there an oil line on both sides? What good does it do putting a can on one side and not the other?

Because the vacuum pulls one way when you're NA. Driver's side pulls from intake to engine & passenger side pulls from engine into intake.

I'm curious how much oil people with the UPR or Bob's catch cans setup are capturing. I haven't had more than the bottom of my JLT full which is about a teaspoon or so. I guess I should be happy that I don't have a ton of blow by?

^ Correct, so you only need 1 can when you're not boosted. Everyone who ran dual can setups on a N/A car has said they really don't catch anything on the drivers side.

It does a pretty solid job at separating hard oils versus vapor. Over all it's really worthwhile if you plan to keep the car. Which I of course do.

I have the old 2oz JLT separator. I know the new version has a 3oz canister and a new filter system.

Any real benefit in upgrading to the 3.0 or am I good with the old style?

I have the JLT 2.0 and it seems like it's doing its job. There's about a teaspoon or less of oil in there every 500 or so miles. It was actually the first thing I bought for the car. I do like the factory style connections but I don't like how it just hangs there. I'm now thinking about getting the Ford Performance one.

I looked at it prior to install and then after. I can say whatever media they use for a filter is pretty badass stuff. It's better than the typical crap you see. I didn't have the 2.0 so I'm not sure to what degree its better. But I can say the 3.0 is sturdy

At first I was worried about the same. Then I realized how incredibly tough the factory lines that hold it up are and how light the canister itself is. Mine has zero issues holding the weight

Thanks for sharing your results with the forum! Glad you are happy with the setup.

When we were testing the new unit, average collection over the original style was 25% more. If that's worth it to you then it's worth the change, however they both work!

_______

64oz can! LOL. That'd take about 50-60k miles to fill ;)
