Hey guys!

I figured out a pretty great spot for my phone and thought I'd share it with you.
I've been trying to find a way to have a magnetic phone mount without having to use 3M tape or anything of the like.

It's pretty simple!

The mount is actually for an air vent, but fits PERFECTLY on the center speaker grill on the dash (especially for my iPhone 6S plus). My phone also sits down into the first slot of the grill which makes it even nicer.
The best part? The location for using GPS couldn't get much better. I barely have to take my eyes off the road to see it.
I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out! Let me know what you guys think. I'd like to see the different ways you have your phone mounted also!

Hope this helps! :D

(UPDATE)
I have noticed that the mount doesn't clip on to the speaker grill very well (wish it had better grab). So... when removing your phone, you will have to hold the mount in place or it will come off along with your phone. If anyone has any ideas on how to get it to grab better, let me know!

I got the mount off of Amazon - here's the link if you want to do the same!

I quite like that KeiRodez. I bought a cheap one that just slides onto the vent and it's a POS. Keeps sliding all over the place.

That looks like it would be more secure and is in a perfect sightline. I may give it a shot.

How is the glare from the screen with it mounted up there?

I have been trying to put mine in a similar spot. I can not get any 3m to stick to any part of the top of the dash. Really frustrating. Might have to try that mont.

Maybe not for everyone but I have used these for years. they are vehicle specific mounts and independent phone mounts that attach to the vehicle specific mount. I use an adjustable phone mount since I change phones a lot and want a holder that works with a case.

A magnetic mount that requires a piece of metal on the back of your phone will render wireless charging inoperable.

This is the Pro.Fit system. The vehicle specific mount snaps in between the radio bezel and where the dash touches the a/c vents. It leaves no marks, is easily removed and able to be put anywhere along the the front panel where a/c vents are located. If you have the gauges, all the way to the right works best and both gauges are visible and the a/c vent on the right still works. This position also keeps the phone cool in the heat.

These are pricey but they have a 30% off coupen for Ford mounts. FORD30

If I were home, I'd post a picture of the back of the mount. You can see it on the Pro.Fit website.

You don't have problems with the phone overheating in the sunlight?

I'm lost as to why one would mount their phone to the dashboard. The entire idea behind the SYNC system is so you don't have to do that. Mine goes in the cup-holder.

Even in its latest form, SYNC is pretty mediocre software. The apps people run off their smartphones are far more versatile and capable than SYNC (e.g. Waze). Plus if you have a base stereo without nav, SYNC is more of a novelty than anything else.

Went on a trip over the weekend and the NAV couldn't find the destination and/or it would have got my there 30 minutes longer so I had to use my iPhone GPS Maps app.

Hope this helps! :D

Thanks. I ordered that and should get it tomorrow.

I like the other mount on this page also but I only need it when I'm going somewhere and the NAV can't do it so I'm not interested in a semi permanent mount thingy but, it looks pretty cool.
