On another note - followed up dealer today after 3 and a bit months after ordered about timing for an NSC. Was told they haven't had any updates on them since April?

There was a cancellation for this order and my dealership offered me the car otherwise I would be waiting until May,

I thought that the provision of the NSC to customers might have made a lot of inquiry work for Ford AU and they decided to hold off on providing that which may explain the inconsistency. I decided to look at the consistency of the Order Date -> VIN supply and that seems quite consistent being 7 to 8 months.
I'm only looking at orders placed this year as things would have had time to settle.
So interested in time between order placed and VIN date if any of you who ordered this year can provide that. My guess is 7.5 months is the average

7.25 months here, ordered late January, VIN early September. Built late October. 14 days ETA to Baltimore docks (I think).

I ordered on the 18th Feb, received VIN on 18th Sep (after chasing it up). Built on the 5th Oct, now waiting for ship.

So far for all orders (that didn't jump the queue due to cancellation) from Dec 2015 on have all had a 7 to 8 month Order -> VIN wait. I haven't seen enough to be certain but starting to look consistent
