You are overthinking this. Unless someone intentionally took a hammer and pounded a nail into your tire, no one is responsible for this repair except you. Plug/patch, done. Seriously, contemplating going after someone's permit over this... who is the a-hole. Not trying to be a jerk but put yourself in their shoes.

How many nails were left, did they run a cleanup crew, do they use magnetized rakes or sweepers? They should not be leaving nails in a public road. They may never need to pay however if they use unskilled labor, or leave nails on a public road to a point of neglect they should risk loosing a permit. Everyone deserves to expect a paid service that is licensed and ensured to provide competent service and a safe working environment before, during and after work. Does the provider have insurance, is his crew even trained and or legal?

document how many nails were found, and where, if the company gives you a hard time force them to disclose their cleanup procedures, and the information on the crew used. 450 bucks for a tire is small change compared to fessing up to what most roofing companies actually do.

they probably have one certified installer, likely one traveling foreman, once they make you feel comfortable with them the installation guys come, the certified guys leave to start the next job, and you have 8 people that don't speak English throwing that shit on as fast as they can. Many don't work for a crew long and dont give 3 shits about how well they clean up a site.

I don't imagine there's too much issue with replacing only one rear tire as long as the old tire hasn't seen any track days and limited (1500ish miles) street use.

If you replace them both, I'll pay you $50+ shipping and just send them to me. I'll use them.

I'm sure! I just ordered a single tire from tire rack. The roofing company came out and looked, and agreed to send me a check for the tire. Said the check should be here tomorrow or Wednesday.

Me either! I mentioned a few posts back that I'd be replacing the tire. The discussion has kinda stumbled along since then.

^This is my current plan. The roofing company already sent someone out who seemed to be empathetic and said they would take care of it. Now, it just depends on if the person who writes the check is of the same opinion. $485+shipping+mount/balance.

Did you tell the guy what brand tire the nail punctured and ballpark price ? :eyebulge:

They did the right thing and paid for a tire. I had concerns but they apparently know something that you don't.

The interesting thing is - I'm doing a garage extension in a month or so and will require roof work. There's a good chance they will make their money back. I know that shit happens but it's how you handle it that counts.

Yeah it's called negligence. Literally to not pick something up. In this case a nail. I'm amazed anyone wouldn't understand the concept and consider your response to be inappropriate.

Replace it for the track, you going to eat up tires on the track anyways. Save the bad one for a burn out or street use.
