Just got off the phone with my dealership and got the part# for the transmission they are sending to put in my car. It's the same part # Epiphany has on the transmission he ordered. FR3Z 7003-E. Now I just have to buy the rest of the cooler kit. So, good news after all.
Wow, that is awesome.... I think I heard a grinding sound in mine last weekend..... What dealer are you going through again.....

As ironic as it sounds, congrats on a transmission failure, or less ironically, the solution for a transmission failure. That is great news!!

So this may be a dumb question but, if they are replacing with the 'good' transmission and it's under warranty, is there an adaptor kit on it for tech pack cars? I doubt Ford will pay for the rest of the parts to put the coolers in? Will it just have a loop hose from the inlet and out let and the owner can elect to put the rest of the system in or?

I had what was probably one of the first TR3160's available as soon as Ford Parts and Service was able to sell them.

Mind you it was more than $4,000 and that was just over dealer cost from Tousley (and had no internal pump). Core charge additional. Today I got a message from Mike at Buyfordracing that he has the just released Ford Racing TR3160 transmissions (with coolant pump) in stock. Retail on these is $4,800.

He is selling them for $2,700, a price he can't advertise. If you can find a better deal, jump on it because that is very reasonable.
Why did u buy the trans if it had no internal pump?

I like to disassemble things.
Transmissions with the pump were not yet available. I used the transmission to fabricate a stand and the gentlemen that took possession of the transmission after me used it to make the best shifter a Mustang has ever seen.

How do you get in touch with Mike to get that price $2700 for trans?

This should work with the FP kit designed to work with a TR3160 with a factory internal pump, yes. This transmission will have the stock fill/drain/ port plugs.
Just for clarification, port plugs for the cooler lines? Also, whatcha gonna do with your new transmission stand? :)
Thanks Epiphany

The stand shares work with a number of other stands I fabricated. They are used to aid in design/development as well as show duty at events such as Mustangweek.

Regarding plugs, I was referring to the threaded pipe plugs in response to an earlier question. The ports for the cooler lines may or may not have a plastic/rubber plug to keep the orifices clean on the Track Pack transmission prior to installation.

Has anyone considered boycotting the pending cooler fix and/or transmission with internal pump in an attempt to leverage a more acceptable resolution?
I'm not sure what that would do. We are not currently in a position to leverage anything because they hold all of the cards/power.

I'm probably not going to get either of their solutions (not because of a snub against Ford or anything). If I'm not going to have a warranty on my transmission either way, I'm going to most likely bring my car to a local Mustang tuning shop. They get very good reviews and probably care much more about their reputation than any regular Ford dealer does.

Unfortunately I don't think that we have the numbers to put a scare into ford.
If there were thousands of people maybe but I don't even know if there is a 100 people that would like to occasionally go to the track. What everyone that does not have a trans/diff cooler should realize that 240 degrees plus heat can not be good for there transmissions. Just my 2 cents
