Finally an update from my stealer. Can't say I'm surprised. What's the next step? Have requested the photos they took

Good morning Mr Leek,

My colleague has had a reply back from Ford warranty and policy ref your under seal, the response is as follows

“Thank you for the images.
After review it has been determined that no further action is required.
The black paint is applied and no other protection, this is as design intended”

Many thanks
Was that from Hendy Eastleigh?

In my case I cannot blame the dealer.
I saw the email too and from warranty. It was 100% warranty that said no and went on to say the Zeebrugge thing is wrong!
'Lots of misinformation on certain forums' they said....but it was Andy that told me by email about underseal at Zeebrugge.

Just another theory to add to the whole subject of what happens in Zeebrugge. I have been involved in manufacturing industries all my life and in particular industries which have some of their products manufactured outside of the EU. It is part of EU rules that the first country of entry to the EU can customs clear for any of the other member states. It's also true that by incorporating a final "manufacturing" step in a EU country there can be considerable tax and duty advantages to the parent company.
I therefore wonder whether the so called Zeebrugge underseal operation is actually just a tax dodge and not necessary from a practical point of view as others have suggested.
I might be totally wrong on this but it certainly happens I'm another highly regulated industry which I'm familiar with.

Shush, you cant say the words 'tax dodge' out loud!
Yeh, I am sure something like this would explain. The whole thing just doesn't add up.

Kev sent off pictures of my underseal the other day, but I'm guessing I might get the same response as you. He seems like a decent guy, but they can only do the warranty work that gets approved of.

Ford must be getting fed up with this by now. They either need to deal with each customer consistently or have some standard response to this explaining why the crap sprayed down the middle of the car is sufficient. I'd like to be comfortable in the knowledge that my Mustang won't end up like the old Lancia's. Everybody knows what happened to those, right?
I dont think Ford are getting fed up at all. If they were they would deal with it and tell us all to 'do one' or simply sort us out. They could deal with this and make it go away very easily.

If they are getting fed up then its their own doing!

Top para - If so, why is the Exhaust coated in it? Doesn't make sense to me. where the underseal is looks just like someones stood under it and sprayed in a line. As other have stated underseal on the exhaust isn't a good thing and was the reason for many a disgusting smell.

Agreed, infact, if that happens; I'd be happy to speak to my lawyers about it and see what entitlement we get in the way of a class action lawsuit.

They're on a thin rope - but it'll cost them less to do that, than it will a lawsuit, actually, if they'd just agreed to do it upon first request, I'm sure the costs saved on staff time would have equated to the same value :frusty:
The cynic in me says that it's because the exhaust is mild steel and will rust first.**

In my opinion it's the inconsistency of response that's hurting Ford here. If they were able to make a statement to the effect that either

A) it's fine everybodypeeps, don't worry about it or
B) we made a mistake and will have to rectify all your cars or
C) it's an error affecting a few VINs which we'll deal with, everyone else is OK

Then all the noise would die down. As it is they're pouring petrol on the fire and fuelling the conspiracy theories with their lack of a coherent response

For the record, I got a courtesy car whilst mine was being done, very nice one actually #imalrightjack

** I'm not worried about this because there's a huge stockpile of stock exhausts from you lot who've gone for the aftermarket ones :D

PS - if you really want to escalate it post it on their facebook and twitter feeds individually until they take notice

When I asked my dealer what they think about the underseal, the respons was "it's there I guess" with pulled up shoulders & a grin...

I guess I might plan a trip to modurstang after all, but I'm not looking forward to the 800km trip though. Maybe modurstang would be interest to come to Belgium for a day or so and have several cars done in some sort of a group buy? I'm sure some Belgian peeps would be interested!

I think you've hit the nail firmly on the head there. Joins all the dots and maybe helps explain the competitive price

Might be an idea for those of you being knocked back by your dealers to show them the pics of the couple of cars on here that HAVE been done on this TSB, and ask them to justify how a car doesn't need doing when it looks nothing like the cars that have....

If the TSB rectification gets them looking like they should, and yours currently doesn't look like that, how are they going to justify a refusal?

so according to ford this is acceptable. im actually pleased with the photos the dealer took. they are all pointing at areas with no underseal (which isnt hard) which just goes to show they can see something isnt right.

Oh dear... Well dealers did pictures fine; ford just cocked it by saying it's acceptable!

Took the car in to have the Underseal photos taken today. We got shown under the car and the mechanic explained if he gets the go ahead how he would strip all the plastic trim off the bottom and wheel arches before applying the Underseal. He could not have been better or more interested. He had already researched the problem and contacted ford about it. He also had the TB thingy printed out. I did print some of this forum posts out to show him and advise him from all your experiences.
Perry's at Chesterfield and they had 3 convertible and 4 coupe being prepped for collection

Cheers Manders. Well I emailed Ford Warranty about the ridiculous 'non-transferable approval' malarkey (as detailed in one of my previous posts) and got the usual 'someone will be in touch within 24hrs' automatic response. So - surprise, surprise - I've heard sweet Fanny Adam.

I've now emailed Ford CRC (as per your supplied email address Manders) and am currently awaiting their suggestion for a simple, common sense solution to this problem ...............:lol::lol:
Ford CRC. Total and complete waste of time. Clueless and hopeless. If this is Ford's idea of customer service then I'm somewhat less than impressed. A typical 'call centre' mentality - give out the pre-prepared standard answer and make it as difficult as possible for the customer to actually progress their complaint, no matter what. I was hoping for a bit of common sense to prevail, but not a chance - no intention whatsoever of trying to put the customer first. Damn near ÂŁ40k to be f:censored:ked about and massively inconvenienced ..... I feel like SUCH a valued customer Ford, well done.

ps .... what's the betting I go through the re-approval process and get refused?!
