Getting close to grabbing a car. Will be a white 2017 auto. What would be best with a drag race state of mind? I will stay NA till 11.0s or high 10s. Then maybe FI. I do have SW headers, X pipe, Corsa off road cat back, a set of 5 star rims with MTs on them for the track, and a CAI ( don't remember the brand but don't have to keep it either)
So with a no bells and whistles car in mind, what rims, seats and other choices will be lighter and am I missing anything?

NA till 10-11s? Not possible.
Guy with 850whp and drag tires can only hit low to mid 10s.

Just get a base auto car with 3.55 gears - do all the bolt ons and tune for e85. Swap stock wheels for lighter with better tires, and beef up the suspension. Ditch the backseat and get lighter fronts. You should be deep into the 11s

Members on here run very low 11s NA
And with better DA this fall, I wouldn't be surprised if someone breaks into the high 10's while staying N/A. :headbang:

I would put a torque converter at or near the top of your mod list.

I got the exhaust from a friend that needed a truck more than his car, but yes he made a big emphasis on doing the converter at the same time. I agree 100%. It will probably be a 5C. If I play my cards right I will have axles and driveshaft at that time too. One trip under the car would be great but also boring lol.

I guess what my main question here was that up front regardless of looks, what seats and rims are lightest and are there any more options from the factory that would be beneficial?

Cloth base seats. Swap them out for a kirkey race seat on race day if you want to get silly. Lightest stock wheels and tires are the base 18.

Base GT auto.

3.55 diff so you can swap in 3.31's.

Ditch the Corsa for a FRPP sport catback (they're lighter).

Drop motor mounts to enable you to run the Cobra Jet intake, mono-blade TB and the FRPP intake tube kit.

AED or other very experienced Coyote tuner.

Higher stall torque converter.

Rear seat delete, lightweight battery. Remove trunk junk. One piece driveshaft (all will add up to around 100lbs of weight reduction).

In good air with a good track and launch, that should net you 11.3's or so.

If you're wanting to get faster than that you could swap out the brakes to Aerospace Components lightweight system, switch out the suspension to AEM Featherlite coilovers..that'll save you another 60lbs or so.

Oh and watch your own eating and exercise..driver weight reduction counts too! (assuming you're not already ideal in terms of weight).

Buy a 4 cylinder fox body or a V6 SN95 for a grand. Strip it. Drop a stroked 351 in it. Big shot of nitrous. A little suspension and a roll cage. Leave the S550 as a street car.

Now now...

You're setting him up for failure. You could do that...take a SN95 V6 Mustang, drop a big ole 408W stroker in it and let her fly. You can take pictures as he picks up the rear end pieces and transmission bits off the track.
