Personally I knew what I was buying and I did not have any issues. I always planned to add additional cooling down the line to prolong life of both. I just didn't expect this to be such pain since both trans and diffs are the same (did not know pumps were internal). Either way me personally I'm good with a kit for both and realistically I don't think it will be free. I think the mass phone calls just might let ford know that we are not going away.
I knew exactly what I was buying as well. I won't be tracking mine but would put a tranny cooler on the car if FP comes out with a kit. Don't like the thought of the tranny running hotter than it has to.

I'm curious as well. I have a 15 F150 with the tow package and it has the transmission cooler for it. It also has the digital readout on the dash and it is always about 200-205 driving it normally. No towing or heavy payload anyway.

I know it isn't apples to apples especially since it is an automatic as well, but I've seen a few posts that say 200 is even too hot. Which, sounds kind of crazy to me.
I have a thread going called "what does your tranny run" where owners with tech packs describe trans temps and conditions. Most of the time it seems to run between 170-230. EDIT: more owners reporting in and showing temps under normal driving gets the trans into 240's.

I've read most of that, but I don't think anybody has posted what the official operating parameters are from Ford. I also thought I read some are saying 200 was too hot, which is why I posted the info about my truck.

Good thread by the way and thanks for starting it.

With the news that Ford Performance will sell the track/R transmission to tech pack owners but there will be no warranty offered, I think the die is cast.

The main reason I've been waiting for something from Ford Performance is the assumption that Ford Performance would at least offer a warranty if we paid big bucks to buy the solution from them. Now that it looks like anything we get from FP will not be covered by a warranty.

I personally figure I will wait until spring and make the call between selling my car and buying something else, buying a track pack car or 2017 if I can find one and afford it, or adding the transmission and differential coolers to my car. I know that if I add the coolers there will probably be no warranty, so there will also be a decision between buying the parts from Ford Performance or going aftermarket. There's less incentive to buy from Ford Performance if they aren't offering any kind of warranty. Just that the parts will fit and bolt up well. I also believe that the FP parts will be good quality. They should last a long time, and in my mind the FP solution is buying me less risk of having a failure compared to most aftermarket parts rather than an actual warranty. We know the parts are good enough quality to be covered by a warranty, because they are the parts that went into the track/R cars. I'm upset with Ford, but I still think in general their stuff is quite good. It's just that they really messed up on the tech/base GT350s.
Agree with most of this Hack. If Ford leaves us hanging , this'll be the last Ford product I buy. Just driving around this weekend, ambient temp was 73, my transmission got to 243...243 just driving in the low end of the power band..
I think trying to get Ford to do something is gonna be like banging our heads on concrete..Anyone know how do we get the Feds involved??

Great question! Haven't seen it anywhere but the Track and R owners (&'17s) are probably gonna tell you theirs run somewhere below 160..maybe even lower. When you say 170-200, I gotta think you're driving conservatively?
I've never seen over 150. But Im not studying it.

That's interesting because I can buy the Shelby Trans with oil pump from my local Ford Dealer for about $3625. Now there is a $1000 Core charge that may or may not be refundable with a non oil pump Trans but the OEM one is #FR3Z7003D
MUSTANG GT350 TRANSMISSION WITH PUMP
Part #: M7000M8S
$4,800.00 List

I was considering calling the dealer and finding out whether buying under the OEM PN is actually cheaper.

I also wonder whether if I buy the OEM transmission it will have a warranty.

Does anyone ACTUALLY know what too hot is. For a manual transmission 250 seems OK. Any one check with the manufacture?

At a glance most manuals don't have a sensor at ALL. Vettes throw a code at 325..

So i'm back from vacationning and from what i'm reading, looks like Ford will not post our trans issue stories.

I'm not really that surprised, why would they let people post negative stories anyways. We should've known better. :headbonk:

So where do we go from here, give a call to FP like someone mentionned. I'm in for that:shrug:

Looks like if we Canucks want to get the real deal tranny with pump we're looking at roughly $7K.:rant:

Correct. I was coming back from a car show yesterday and was driving normal. went from 160 ish and climbed to the upper 190 range on the highway. Ambient temps were in the low 80's with no humidity.

I think that there were glaring decisions that were made for GT350s based on cost, that Ford had no idea would impact the customer base this negatively.

I'm really starting to doubt that Ford was ever prepared to actually service and maintain these vehicles on top of the glaring cost cutting measures that they took.

As for me... my story.

My transmission cracked down the casting on the tail shaft housing.

I had my car towed to my dealer on August 1st.

I still do not have my car back. They were replacing just the tail shaft housing.

First, it took them a week to diagnose. Then it took 2 weeks to get the parts.

once they got the parts, then they didn't have some specialty tool. They were supposed to have the tool a week ago.

Haven't heard a peep since.

Furthermore, my car was damaged during transport. Ford will not agree to pay for the damage to my kooks mid-pipes, nor will agree to fix the dent until after I can get an estimate for the repairs.. guess what? can't get an estimate since the car has been on a freaking lift for a month and obviously cannot move. Any Body/repair shop that I'd use is 20+ miles away from the dealer and will not make the trip out to write an estimate for $2500.

My Father in law worked for ford for 53 years. He was an engineer on both the US spec and Australian Falcons ( which the original mustang used lots of parts from).

He's probably spinning in his grave right now.

I have a fair amount of money above and beyond the cost of the car into mine right now. I'm thinking that, if i eventually get the car back, I'm selling it. I've had enough.

( For reference, I was not even offered a rental/loaner vehicle by anyone, dealership or Ford Corporate.)

I've spent less on cars and been treated much much better. Yes, Ford, if you are reading, you've chased away a Z plan customer that has bought 3 Ford vehicles in the last 12 months. Not even the discount that I get for being part of a Ford family can entice me to buy another vehicle.

Shame on you. Shame on Ford performance. Shame on Dave. You've taken a great brand and socked it right in the face, giving it two black eyes and brain damage.

I challenge ANYONE from Ford to make this right. And yes, I also sent a certified letter to Billy. That fell on deaf ears too.

It is hard to express how disappointed in Ford I am. I've owned 19... yes.. 19 Ford vehicles. I currently own 3. Guess what? I'm seriously considering dumping all 3 of my personal Ford vehicles and switching to some other brand for the work vehicles that I buy.

The sheer lack of customer first mentality is what is most disappointing. If the company that I work for ( and yes, I'm part of the Sr. leadership team), did business like this, we would not exist.

again.. honest disappointment in Ford. what a letdown.

As a business, how you behave when everything is 100% as expected is always easy.

How a business reacts during failure conditions and when expectations are missed is how the quality of the business and leadership are judged. Ford, I'm giving you the chance to prove me wrong, but so far, you are making my trust in your brand very painful.

You bought a Ford. I drop my car at lexus I expect one level of service, I drop my car at Chevy or Ford I expect another. One of my reservations about buying a 60k Ford

Does your dealer normally offer loaners

Hey Zombiekiller, sorry this is ongoing. I'm officially done with Ford since they really don't WANT to support their customers. I have a base but don't have the limp mode kicking in at the track however for longevity reasons I am going to add coolers if I decide to keep the car. Mechanically the car has been great but other problems popped up which looks like I will probably have to address myself.

My ongoing fight with Ford and the dealership have approached 9 weeks now with NO resolution and Ford's last voicemail message for me which I have saved said the dealership is now solely responsible for any warranty or repair work bar none. Ford has washed their hands of this car. How's this for a statement. Now done with Ford and guess what Ford doesn't seem to care?

Their loss! Multiple vehicles and over $600k spent with them in the last year. Guess Dodge will now get all my business?

Just disgusted on how they have treated so many people with these cars. And guess what? Limp mode has happened on ALL of their gt350 models here and there for different reasons. My friend has a race red track pack and this car has been plagued since new. It has coolers. What's the problem. 3 new pcms, other parts, etc.

I just think these cars are hit or miss? Good luck to all and if I come up with an easy solution on coolers I will post.

i've had 3 different case numbers and they have been escalated "as high as they can go". the supposed "top person" was quite unprofessional once i landed on his desk.

the summation of each? Pound sand, dude, but thanks for being a Ford customer!

oh how the tables would be turned if Ford had an issue with the gear that they bought from the company that i work for. They'd turn out the lynching party.

suffice to say, i don't have the energy to continue arguing with them. I should not have to argue with a vendor to get my property fixed and back to me.

as for the comment of lexus service vs Ford, the last lexus that i had was a fair bit less than my gt350, they treated me 10x better.

ford sells premium vehicles of all types. i expect far more from them, and from their dealer network.

250 is about 30 degrees below the reported limp mode threashold...

Based on info posted by@mattlqx, limp mode might kick in closer to 260-265...
