Are the perforated backs JUST that small panel above the map pocket or should more of the seat back be perforated?

That's not the bit he's talking about. The back of the front seats
Oh? The back of my front seats aren't perforated. They're the same on both sides. the leather looks the same as the 'Bolstering' on the sides of the fronts - No perforation.

Let me pop out and get some pictures :p

Just that panel. Both mine are perforated.

Yours is collectible.

Mmmmm. Is it an EB thing, or a climate seat thing?

We could ask Deysha FordService
Could well be... Greg C what's the back of your drivers/passanger seat look like?

Big_G when you're back - yours too! :headbang:

So it seems likely that perforated backs are a thing of climate seats? Meaning my passenger one wants replacing.

Climate seat thing. That's connected to the reason the seat coolers don't work very well on the seat backs. There's a peltier (thermoelectric heating / cooling) device in each seat that provides both heating and cooling but the catch with these is that is does both at the same time. There's a detailed thread on it somewhere but in essence, the device needs to get rid of the hot exhaust air somewhere when its in cooling mode - in the seat bottoms it goes under the seat no problem but in the backs it exhausts to the space in the seat back, hence the perforated leather to let it out. (It still doesn't work because the design is poor but that's the theory)

The seat coolers work independently of the aircon but they are more efficient when its on because the ambient air it draws in is a lower temperature

If you have no perforations in your seat cover then the cooling performance will be even worse than the piss poor effort it already is in the seat back.

Of course it could be that they've put one entire heated/cooled seat in and one ordinary one instead of just the cover. I wouldn't be surprised....
