I don't mind it, seen plenty of cars (mainly BMW) around today with the shark fin style. But I do prefer the smoother line of clean roof.

Do You have Sync 3 as we have only just got this on our 17's as here in Australia all previous cars were Sync 2. I thought it had something to do with this!

Does that mean cars without the lump don't have Satellite radio or DAB?

None of our cars have satellite radio and there seems to be conjecture about DAB. It definitely isn't enabled on my car and hasn't been on any others I've seen either, however Ford refers to it in the brochure.

I guess what I'm alluding to is that I think it may be a DAB antenna, usually they are a separate antenna to the on glass AM/FM antenna. An example of this is the FGX Falcon - they all had an in glass antenna previously, but now have roof antennas for the DAB. The new Mondeo is the same.

I'm not so sure it's a DAB antenna unless there's been a change between what antenna they run from Sync 2 to 3.

Going By the Workshop Manual, it is for Satellite Radio (if equipped) or GPS.
If you remove it, there will be a hole in the roof.
