I've been experiencing white smoke from my hood on the driver side. It happens intermittently when the engine hit normal operating temperature from cold start. The smell is like burnt rubber.

Ford could not find anything. There are no signs of leaks in the ground.

Has anyone experience this? I've had ford look at it twice still can't find the problem

That's my guess ... look for signs of oil dripping off the bottom of the valve cover area just above the exhaust manifolds. Couple guys on the board have found and reported loose valve cover bolts.

I don't get it...
When choosing a new Pope there is a conclave of Cardinals from all over the world in Vatican City. They take a vote and if a new Pope Isn't chosen on that vote dark smoke flows from the chimney to inform the people that a Pope was not chosen and they vote again. The process continues until they reach a decision and choose a new Pope. White smoke will come out of the chimney to inform the people that a new Pope has been chosen.

My fiance noted a couple times that she saw this same thing, mostly right after I installed my headers, but it was always at night and I never saw it, and neither of us ever smelled anything. Curious what others have to say about this.

Did you drive over some puddles or something?
My RX-8 had these oil coolers that would steam when driving in the rain.

I know this kind of an old thread but this also happens to my car. I notice it most often when I come to a stop after doing highway speeds.

It's a blown head gasket. Just look under the car the next day to see if there's any oil leak and take a picture for the dealership. They'll get it done under warranty
