New GT350R Owner

I never thought I would be interested in a Mustang, especially at 67 years old. But, I kept reading about this car and felt moved to order one. I received this stunning looking car about 3 weeks ago and must say this is really a joy to look at and to drive. I've owned quite a number of Porsche's and Ferrari's and although my Porsche is quite a bit faster than the Mustang, the GT is more exhilarating to drive. My wife thinks I've completely lost my mind but this brings back some old muscle car memories from my past. In my younger days, I owned a 66' Chevy II L79 and at one time a 67 vette L88 (didn't realize what I had). Anyway the 350 represents a blast from the past and I'm enjoying it, even though I'm getting looks like, "What's the old man doing in that thing?". I can live with it.

Welcome. I am 63 and grew up in the middle of the muscle car era like you. These cars fill both nitches ,muscle car and true sports car. I sold a 2014
Cayman gts to buy my Shelby. I love telling people I sold a Porsche to by a Ford.
It is 100 time more fun to drive.

Wait a minute ......you say the 350R is more fun to drive then your car that makes 515 lb-ft of torque between 2100-4215 rpm. You can get an extra 35 or something more by hitting sport plus. I find that hard to believe. ( my cousin Vinny ) 0 to 60 ...2.9 top speed 198. All I can say is you must have a loose plug wire. Really !!!!

Hey Mike. Thanks for the post. When I drove it to a friends function last week, a remark was made "You bought a Ford?". I gave him a little ride around the block, afterward he quickly withdrew his comment and was in awe that Ford made something like that. Really is a cool car.

Be careful showing people what it can do .....Kennesaw cops are the worst. Really 0 to 60 2.9. Power band like a mule train. The turbo is low end grunt like no other. It's a 17 Z06 on steroids........ Welcome to the forum.

I didn't say it was a faster just more engaging. By the way My turbo has a GIAC stage 2 chip, europipe exhaust, new intercoolers and is now pushing 680hp. My 0-60 time has been clocked @ 2.6, 0-100 5.9 and 1/4 mile was a 10.71. All that with a glorious burmester sound system playing to trick you into thinking your not at warp speed. Very impressive ride.

Well no shit ! Us old guys can still fly. I had a 502 GM crate motor ram jet in my 69 pro touring Camaro that put out over 500+ hp. It had all the goodies. It was like Big Red if you know what I'm talking about. The guy I bought it from had over $110k in the build. Made over 500lb-torque @ 1500rpm. Now that's old school.

Yeah they have gone up for sure. But to make things even better I bought it from Peachtree ford that went out of business in 2009. They still had it on MSO so I stole it. I got it for $35K under MSRP. The owner drove it as his toy. Sold it and put the money back into the market and did better then you could imagine. To answer your how did I like it. It scared the living hell out of me on cold tires. No Traction control or anything at all....really. If you go on the Internet and look @ the totaled ford GT's you would be amazed. For its day it was fast but today no way.

Very similar in scare factor to the out of control early vipers. It's just such a stunning and classic looking car. I always wanted one.

I put an application in on the new one .....and you guessed it was turned down. Then got an email from ford informing me that they are going to build another two more years so hang in there. That's 4 years total. So if I'm still able to drive who knows ha ha. Got to run take care and enjoy your amazing toys.
