I know most people on this forum are die hard Ford fans, but any thoughts on the new ZL1 coming out this year? It was just announced yesterday that the ZL1 will have 650HP and should be a monster. I'm curious if all the rumors are true about the Zl1, if it will reduce the demand for the GT350R and just maybe the ADMs will go away or reduced????? People always want the latest fastest toy.

Power to weight will be similar the 2013/14 GT500. The auto will help the car a lot tho, as far as quickness in the straights. Mag shocks will be nice. It will be faster IMO, as long as cooling is good it could beat the R around the track for more than 2 laps.
I'd still never get one. Im sure the next GT500 will be a track beast as well. Ford wont dissapoint with the GT500. I have an R on order right now but may dump it if i hear news of the GT500 coming within a year.
I dont think the ZL1 will hurt sales of GT350R, if at all.

People looking for an R won't care about the ZL1. Especially considering the looks, power plant, and sound are totally different. Only car that might affect R prices is the GT500.

A lot of people are hoping some magical car will come along and make the R less desirable, lower the price, so guys can finally buy them. The ZL1 ain't it.

No car will reduce the desire for the R. The exclusivity alone will keep prices high. ZL1's will not be nearly as hard to get as an R, and it doesn't fit the same niche in my opinion. Will it be faster, yeah no doubt, but that's not all that people care about.....unless you just wanna bench race.

Smh... Totally nonsense comparo for those interested in the R for purists reasons rather than to keep up with the Jones.

There is absolutely no way to truly place these cars on the same plane, yet alone compare mechanics of engines. What appeals to some for the ZL1 will be abhorred by the racecourse R lovers... i.e., supercharging. The R folks cling emotionally to the offerings of CF wheels, a FPC engine and a specially-tuned suspension even different from that of a 350. What the ZL1 does with brute force, the R does with charisma and grace.

No comparo.

A Corvette vs. a track-oriented Mustang... I see these two cars in different classes altogether. The Mustang is a vehicle with a legitimate trunk and is not a low slung body design. The Corvette is like sitting on the pavement compared to the R. Just not the same - totally different buyer, IMHO. If I had the money for either, I'd get the R. Well, if I'm honest, I'd be at a BMW dealership at that point, but... I'd get the R. Not a Vette.

probably similar laptimes. in some bigger tracks maybe ZL1 will be even faster. that engine is no jokes.

price wise I heard it will be between 60-65k, which is higher than base GT350 but a bit lower than GT350R msrp.

Just can't get enuff!
I have a feeling the ZL1 will also spit out fast lap times for every entire session for an entire hpde day. Same LT4 as in the Z06... and my C7 Z06 is/was very fast (yes it's faster than an R, period) but not reliable enough. The new ZL1 has 11 heat exchangers... wow.

not sure about destroying, ZL1 will be over 150lbs heavier and will most likely be slower in corners.

straight line wise it will obviously be a lot faster, that is why I said for big tracks with longer straights the ZL1 might be faster.

The ZL1 will destroy The GT350R it will be ugly. The cooling issues have been addressed on the ZL1.

Please, oh wise one, what does destroy mean? 2+ seconds a lap faster? 3?

Where are your facts to backup your bold statements?
