Is the trunk big enough to carry around a stroller and is the backseat ok for a car seat maybe 2 or 3 times a month? We primarily use the wife's CX5 but its a lease and is racking up the miles. There really arent any family haulers under $30k that I would enjoy.

My daughters rear facing car seat fits behind the passenger side with my wife in the seat with plenty of room. (Wife is short though). We are expecting our 2nd around time our first will move to a forward facing. I will have both carseat in back. It can be a pain at times getting in and out. But it's worth it to me to have this car. And we have an SUV for family commuting. I have to put daughter in back 2-3 times a week. Much more than that and I'd probably consider a scat pack charger. I definitely wouldn't do it every day.

Another option is to carry around a smaller stroller. 1 of them umbrella strollers. I know its nice to have the big stroller to haul all of your own crap around in (Trust me, I know, I'm a father of twins, now there 17) but the umbrella strollers are nice in there own right. As far as the rear seat, my twins think its a little cramped. My girls are only barely105lbs and 5ft tall and they think its great that we finally have a car that they are to big to fit the back. If they sit up nice and tall, there head hits the roof. My 9yr old girl like the power and the sound, but thinks it a pain to get in and out of. We also have a 2016 Jetta GLI that we use for the longer family trips, but the GT is mine.

I tote a stroller and have a car seat for my 4 year old that we use all the time. He can't wait to go for rides with me!

2 year old in the back still rear facing with my wife sitting in front of her. Yes strollers fit in the back as well in general. Can be a tight fit to get it in there though depending on the stroller.

My little one is three now, and my wife is around 5'9"-5'10". Back seat is fine sometimes, but I agree with Litfury, I wouldn't want to do it every day.

To get my 3 year old in and out and for my wife to sit comfortably, we have to move the seat pretty far forward and back every time they get in and out. For me, if it's more than a few times a week (as in, multi-store shopping trip, in and out 10 times in an hour or two) it gets to be a real pain. My wife has a Jeep and I figured we would normally use that for family trips, but my kid loves riding in my car so that's where we usually end up. :)

To be honest I fit a ton of stuff in that trunk let a lone a stroller hahaha. I have a 3 year old and his car seat easily fits in the back seat and then I usually move it to the trunk when hes not with me. Also in the trunk is my car cover (which is relatively massive), a box of cleaning and basic maintenance supplies and like I said a car seat from time to time. Ive even squeezed in a suitcase in there. So far there is nothing I cant stuff into this car!

Can't say about the strollers, but I take my 6 year old and my 2 year old to/from daycare everyday in mine, and they fit fine. I can even get my wife in the car (who is 6') with both kids in the back. The only family member that doesn't fit with us is the dog.

Flash forward a few years, my 7 yo daughter is in a booster. The truth is her toes point right into the seat back if it is back too far. My wife is 5'4" and so it works, but if you're putting a taller passenger in it could be hard. When she is out of the booster she'll drop about 5" lower in the seat and her feet will fall under the seat without issue. Just a note from the ghost of Christmas future.

I have this same problem, I just moved my 6 year old over to the passenger side to compensate. It actually depends on the booster. When he was in his bridex, his feet fit under my seat, but that seat had expired so I replaced it with something less expensive. The new seat is physically smaller, and because of that he's placed further back into the rear seat, and now his feet can't reach under my seat anymore.

So...while I share your current problem, a different booster would solve it.

Hopefully this isn't a thread-jack; if OP keeps his long enough this info would be helpful.

Ok, so maybe a different booster is worth trying then. She currently sits all the way back which I think is part of the issue. Her knees don't bend at the seat edge so it kicks her lower legs outward which makes it a tight fit. Per AZ laws she's 6 months from going booster-less. Not sure how I feel about that... Then again I stood on the bench seat in my dads old Ford truck in the 70's :D

Another peek into the future for you. My girls are 8 and 10 and we make it work. They don't have to ride back there very often though. Our 10 year old is 5'0 and has enough room if my wife's seat is forward enough. 8 year old is 4'8 and isn't a fan of sitting behind me. She sits Indian style mostly. They both find the seats comfortable.

They both hate the back "seat" of my Tacoma access cab and always have. I don't blame them a bit.
