70k out the door sounds like BS. Are you talking about a 2013 model with mileage on it?
Also, 640hp isnt enough? How much is your GT350 putting down?
:paddle:

I can't believe people are crying about the Viper being in the competition. Honestly the GT350R punches above its weight, but the ACR isnt the only thing that is faster on the track. The comparison has the baby mclaren and a new GTR. I would be excited to see the GT350R get 4th place (in terms of lap times). That means it beats Jag F Type R, Benz GTS, Audi R10, and M4 GTS. Excited to see the results, about time they took the GT350R to laguna seca for a lap time
I dont own a 350. I just own a 2016 gt, nothing special. Making a drag car.

Randy Pobst is a great and thoughtful driver and an honest guy. If he didn't run a car smoothly at 10/10ths, it's because he couldn't run the car smoothly - or maybe he was running at 11/10ths, just to see how the car would react.
Or maybe because he's a hired gun. I'd rather have the opinion of the stig not a magazine hired driver. I don't care what anyone says, MT is a joke.

Hired gun or not, he is still a good driver man. He is the one with the ACR record on that track (1:28.65). What a lot of people dont know is Dodge and Kumho had a trailer full of tires to get to that record.

I wish they would do that for the Nurburgring. Americans at the top with a sub 7 time!!!

I couldn't even read the whole thread LOL

My perspective

I am a Team Shelby Director and also a director for the Mustang Club of America. So, yea, I am biased. When I consider these tests, I keep that in mind.

Ill make fun of Camaros all day long, its a part of the rivalry, but its just that "fun" I respect people have other choices and just because they are wrong (kidding here), does not mean I don't respect their opinion. Chevrolet does some great things and, they push Ford to do the same. The reverse is also true.

Motor Trend is a joke and, you don't have to be brand loyal to see that. I call them General Motors Trend. As someone has already pointed out, there choice of the Colorado was the kicker. That and, as I watch Randy run the Mustang TP car against the last Camaro, one nice and smooth, the other doing a imitation of Vaugh Gittin, It doesn't take a genius to see that they have an agenda. In some way or another, the 1LE is going to win, even if it really doesn't,

That takes nothing away from the efforts GM is putting in to make a great car for their customers. I am just not one of them
You were at Laguna?

If I had the funds to have a Viper and a drag car it would be a single turbo S550 5.0. Most likely a 1/2 mile car highway bruiser.

That's not my point. I know he's good. But he's paid by MT. IF he was independent or had his own show I'd take it more serious. That goes for any car he drives.

Tim is right, I bet MT will crown the 1LE best drivers car and how I came to this conclusion is the price. The 1LE will probably be $45k.

Lol, the only two cars there under $100k are the muscle cars! :headbonk:

I was going to ruin the viper and make it a drag car but after pricing all that out, 140kish all invested in the viper vs 78k all invested in the 5.0. It made my choice easy. If that jpc single kit ends up performing like i hope ill go with that instead of twin 6766s :D

And you think the Stig tests cars just out of the goodness of his heart?

He's a paid outside contractor who has a real job, just like Randy Pobst does.

And as far as MT goes, I won't comment, because you "don't care what anyone says." :D

I am glad GM is building great cars , it means the muscle car wars will continue and we will all benefit with some epic rides to come. It's a great time to be a car guy, there is some awesome stuff out there.
And this is what it's all about

Your missing my point. I like Randy. I'm not saying he's not a great driver. My point is he works for MT. MT may as well be on GM's payroll.

And Stig works for Top Gear. What is your point - that a hired outsider will falsify results just because of what company or publication he's working for? Sorry, but that doesn't happen, or the driver would never be hired by anyone else. I've worked in that world, and I've never seen an editor say, "Hey, the Humbly Ditchjumper 1LE has to win the comparo, because Humbly has more advertising dollars than Ford." That doesn't happen in a massive performance-testing situation like this, when performance is all that matters.

OTOH, I really hate it when subjectivity enters a comparison test of, say, three similar vehicles, and the one with the best performance numbers loses by a couple of points to the one that has "better" seats, nicer door cards and a carpeted trunk. But then I'm smart enough to sort out the hard numbers from the fluff and make my own determination on which car really won by my standards.

Exactly! Who cares who the mags choose. They do provide a bit more data for us to use or not use as we choose to make our decisions. Sadly the avg Joe does believe these mags. Oh well, I don't care what they buy either.
