Very curious to see someone do some comparisons. Would love to see 1/4 mile and road and track numbers.

Would love to know how far off a S550 GT with Performance Pack is from a GT350.

Any guesses?

They aren't very close, is my guess. The GT350 will walk away from a regular GT in a straight line. When the cars have to turn, the GT PP is even more outclassed. Way better brakes, better suspension, better motor, more tire, better tire compounds...

Shouldn't even be close.

Well...hopefully we'll see some real tests soon to see just how close, or not close they are.

The title should be " s550 gt pp +15grand in mods vs stock s550 gt350"..
Now that would be interesting!

If you compare the two at what the GT350 was built for. handling! It's not very close. Straight lines aren't the GT350s forte. A $400 tune will have you running GT350 times in a straight line.

I would put my 550GT up against a GT350. there would be no comparison. but then again I would be cheating... ive never been known to play fair. if youre not cheating you are not trying hard enough...

I don't think you'd even need $15 grand, but with $15 grand in mods a GT should be able to destroy a GT350. Of course if you were building the GT to win on the road course it would become fairly uncomfortable for daily driving thereafter. You could mod a GT to beat the GT350 in a straight line no problem without compromising the ability to daily drive it.

a Base 350? You wouldn't even need $15k in mods. The base is a tweaked PP setup with a Voodoo engine. No magnetic setup or fancy bits etc.

You could get there for under $15k though for sure with a good coil over setup and a bit of bolt ons to add some power. The 5.0 makes more power down low, and it takes more "revving up" to get the 350 moving as it really starts making its power at 4500 RPM; so the hp difference alone isn't the whole story really.

The S550 5.0 is more a capable car than people seem to realize with all the focus on the GT350. You an get a pretty good GT track car for maybe less than the cost of a GT350 overall.

Fairly certain your car would destroy a GT350 without even getting past 5 lbs. of boost.

I'd just love to see a comparison stock for stock. As another poster has mentioned, I don't think a S550 GT PP is as far off as people might think.

Hopefully, we'll see some track tests done in the near future. I remember the days when Mustang magazines would do these types of tests. But that was a long time ago.

I'm very interested in this too. My original plan was to get a GT350 but finding one at MSRP isn't turning out to be so easy. Now that I'm planning on a 2017 GT PP Premium, the GT350 aren't crazy different in price MSRP wise and the 2017 350 base is setup like I want it would be nice to see a side by side.

I think with a little boost and the 350 tires added to the GT, the 350 might not do that much better but I'd like the more unique car just because but I won't pay above MSRP for any car.

The base '17 GT350 has everything the '15/'16 Track Pack cars had - Magneride and the engine oil, transmission and differential coolers.

A base '15/'16 is going to be a little lighter than the tech/track pack cars though, and once you hit the fat part of the torque curve I think it is going to pull the GTPP pretty hard in a straight line. With the better tires, front end and suspension changes it is going to out handle the GTPP as well.

I love my GTPP, but I don't think it's up to competing with the '17 GT350 I have on order.

I'd love to see a thorough comparison test between a 2017 GT350 or a 15/16 with the Track Pack against a Base GT PP with just an Intake, Exhaust, Tune, Reasonably priced coilovers (sub $2500), Tires (MPSS), and maybe some BMR goodies around a track.

He drove the closest you'll see to that, a members track built GT from here. He has a few comments about the 350 throughout. Essentially says it's very close, but he prefers the Gt350.

You can make a GT PP outperform the 350 at the track, for sure. Youll be sacrificing daily driveability somewhat with coilovers and longtubes (I'm not a fan of superchargers on track cars due to heat and weight) but it should be doable. Just have to ask yourself if you want the specialness of the 350. I could've built a standard 13 GT to out perform my Boss, but I wanted that innate character.

Well when I said 15 grand I was taking in consideration first adding a supercharger and performance axles. That would leave about 6-7grand for the suspension and brake mods. Maybe wheels and tires too. Just being realistic here.

How about a 2011-12 Z06, price is about middle road from GT PP and GT350
