Waiting patiently for my car.

I was just wondering if the petrol cap locks when the car is locked or is it always accessible which means some idiot would be able to pour something inside the tank.

Cheers

Yes it locks when the car is locked. Also the centre console locks when the car is locked. I thought I broke it!

Ok, thanks ausmustanggt. I did see a video where one of the gripes of the car was that the owner was going on about was that the petrol cap didn't lock. Glad it does.

Wasn't thinking about the centre console at all. lol.

Cheers

Mine doesn't lock
Try to lock your car and then try to open the fuel cap. You can open it easy
Rang Ford Australia and was told that this is correct and that without the funnel that is supplied in the boot that noone can steal your petrol....

That's all well and good - but what about some sicko putting crap in your tank!

There must be a solution for this

Is it April 1?

I understand it's easy enough to rip off the flap of any car (ever seen a VT-VZ Commodore with one still on?), but this is kind of tempting fate. I never underestimate the bad behaviour of some people. Plenty of haters out there ...

Just got the following immediate reply from Ford Australia on Facebook.

Happy to go back to them with any questions anyone may have

There are a couple of contraptions in place to prevent anybody accessing the fuel tank in order to contaminate it. The fuel tank is only accessible via the funnel provided; an ordinary funnel or tube will not be able to break the seal and contaminate the fuel.

Cheers, FordService^SB

Contraptions no less! I'd prefer properly engineered thingamajigs and dooverlackies. I'd even settle for gizmos and wotsits.

I haven't found any funnel in the car? Might need to take it up with the dealer. Might be next to the banana

Its at the back of the boot in a plastic holder which sticks out from the black plastic trim . Look down when you open the boot.
