They're not "better than butter". They're garbage. Sorry. That's just the truth.
Was trying to quote not thank lol. But what is the garbage part about them?

Dont get me wrong the other car i have now with my 2016 gt/cs is my modded 2012 with 641rwhp, its sold but owner hasnt taken delivery yet. It has a tremec magnum , the trans that should have replaced the mt-82, but since it didnt i did it myself. Manuals are fun on the street and the track. Ive had 4 manual mustangs 3 tremec manuals one mt-82 and the mt-82 was the only one that gave me issues. I had internal Bearing howl, it would decide for itself when it wanted to go into gear, clunk city. I thought it was the clutch and pressure plate so replaced both and then it wouldnt go into gear at all. I Had to put it into reverse before it would into 1st gear just to get going. In cold weather it would grind from 1st to 2nd and wouldnt stop till it warmed up...when i had the internals examined 2nd gear was toast with teeth missing and a host of other internal issues. Chinese built junk. Don't try to add big power to them. I have a buddy that has 725 rwhp he's been through 3 rebuilt mt-82's and was gonna do a 4th rebuild til i convinced him to go tremec...

There's nothing wrong with the mt82. Well at least there is nothing wrong with mine. I've never had an issue. Congrats on the new car op. I hope you didn't take too much of a hit on your trade.

The A6 is good - not as good as the double clutch autos in the German cars. When I down shift with the paddle in my Mustang, you can count beats before it kicks in. In my Porsche, it has shifted before my finger comes of the paddle. Still, seems robust and at least mine has been reasonably quiet.

I had a manual in my 2006 and it was very wishy washy - swapped in a Hurst.

But with all the traffic in NJ a manual can be a real pain.

Oh trust me just puttering around it was more like a 3 spd. 2,4,6.
Ya, you can do that if you want. Not sure that is necessarily a bad thing - especially if the complaint with 3.73s is the short gears make you shift more often - you have options.

Whatever, not here to argue, I definitely understand the appeal of the auto.

If I wanted an auto I'd get a bmw or mercedes. Some of these issues im seeing are either laziness, driver error, maybe in proper clutch usage. No issues with my mt82. Knock on wood. Only have the thump occasionally now thay I installed steeda tri ax. I'm thinking with solid drive shafts the thump should be gone. I was told it's slack in drive train. Witch makes sense due to it being a two piece. The grinding in 2nd sounds like damage from not fully engaging clutch from 1st to second. Most likely when you drive the car spiritedly.

I've had 2 gt's with mt82's and never had issues. I just didn't like the way they felt.PP is a great value, sounds great on paper and would have it if it came with auto (mainly for the brakes and wheels/tires).The roads I drive during daily (traffic) filled commute, pp isn't really needed.
Like said above, to each their own.

Thanks for the reminder to future buyers to do enough test driving to make sure they buy the right one the first time. Sorry you had to go thru the hassle and expense.

I had a 14 gt track pack, traded for a 15 gt auto w/3.55. I miss being able to shift, but I don't miss the mt-82. I'll only get a manual mustang with a tremec now.

Auto crew!

I feel like it definitely changes the "feel" of the car.

Makes my Mustang feel more like a nice, "cruiser" car as opposed to an aggressive muscle car.

I do wish I was able to get the PP package on it, but I already got nicer wheels on it so I guess I just need the engine bar and the sway bars and I will be golden!

That's what sucked. 45 min test drive, and first two weeks it was awesome. Then it started to get old, then I took it to the drag strip where it was really disappointing.

These cars where geared noted towards autoX and handling vs dragging.

Yup.

I got blinded by the sweet brakes, bigger radiator, and sweet wheels. Live and learn. Really wish could get the dash gauge pack from it tho. I'm old school, love the real oil pressure, not just"normal". And swap the vacuum gauge for EB vacuum/boost someday when supercharging.

I love the Auto, but I admit; if the GT PP came in an Auto, I'd be all over it. That decision by Ford still baffles me.
Get the Ford Racing handling pak installed if you want better handling than the PP car.
