Key word being "develop" as I stated in my first post. He and his team didn't develop it. That's my whole point. They signed off on the nameplate.
You should run in the HRC ticket with all your spin and rhetoric... Smh. Develop was no where to be found in your last post which was essentially a cliff note version of my posts.

Hey man, good banter... I've got more important things to do. Tally ho.

Nope, remember them well. I guess when you compare them to the cars of the time, they were not as silly. And then theres that silly Viper thing

I agree with this. At the time they were a decent car. I remember driving one in the late 80s and enjoying it.

The difference between the Shelby "Team" concept and the GT350 is night n day... They tend to make a few mods and/or slap FI on a car.

How could Shelby American develop what Ford did with the FPC, MagRide, brakes and CF parts?... And then put it in a $65K package?

This is why it's a Shelby... You got a similar package of new techno is '65 that carried the 350 moniker and it changed the race scene and streets.

Not true. That's why Ford bought the rights to use Shelby's name. If the car had just been called an SVT Cobra, Ford would not have been able to charge as much as they did.

People PAY for the Shelby brand. Just look at prices for Shelby items to know this as fact.
I actually would like the car without the Shelby lettering package. I don't believe Shelby had anything to do with this car other than cash a check for the naming rights.

Shelbys Dead...This is a Ford GT350.

Me crazy, and I can't help myself
Who cares?

As long as ford keeps putting out amazing cars and pushing to the next level on engineering they can put whatever name they want on the car. They can call is the SS. Shitball for all i care.

Well, I certainly did not intend my original comment to spark all this controversy.

First, since there is one confused person here, let me say right now, I have no inside information regarding the new car and never intended to represent that I did. I just observe and speculate like most of you here.

And if you're one of the who cares, you can skip the rest of my post. I get you don't care and, on a certain level, I agree with you.

A couple "observations" concerning some of the comments

Shelby American and Shelby International are the same but different. One deals with cars directly, one with licensing and I'm sure many more things I am not aware of. Carroll worked out of International in CA

Shelby is dead, yes he is. So is Henry Ford (the first one) Does that mean there is no more true Fords? If this was a "Ford" 350 then there would not be the Shelby nameplate anywhere on the car. For those who say it was merely a marketing move, please know the following

Carroll had a very personal relationship with members of the Ford family. Edsel was at Lemans with Carroll when they kicked Ferraris butt. The current GT350 manager was a Shelby employee and worked for Carroll. Carroll was involved in the license because he knew Ford could do the things that Shelby American could not, as some of you mentioned. The DNA is there folks. Certainly not in the same way as the original but, it is there.

Shelby America is no more than a tuner company on the surface.
Not sure what your point is as Shelby American has always only been a tuner company even when Carroll and his team where personally involved with the '65, '66 and '67 GT350's and GT500's.

Back in December 1964 when Shelby American took a Ford Mustang 271 HP "K" code 2+2 Fastback and turned it into the first Shelby GT350's in early 1965 it was no more than a tuner car.

Shelby American has been a tuner company from day one and no different than what Jack Roush, Steve Saleen, Kenny Brown or Steeda Racing has done over many years but with obviously much more success.

I am sure the GT500 will be a spectacular car with tons of HP and torque. For me, I prefer the GT350 - NA power, massive brakes, world class handling at a reasonable price. I never wanted a GT500 in the previous generation but had two Boss Mustangs and never wished once I had bought a GT500. To each his own, it is all about personal choice. I am just thrilled Ford continues to deliver for the legions of Mustang faithful regardless of their individual preferences. :ford:

The GT500/B302 comparison may not hold much water this go 'round. Now that the handling prowess has been proven on the GT350, why would Ford scale that back on a GT500? Especially when it will be designed to compete and beat whatever Chevy has coming? Both the ZL1 and the upcoming Z/28 will have great handling.

It was never stated that Ford would "scale back" the handling of the GT500, as you pointed out, why would they. The GT350 is a car focused on doing all aspects of driving well, acceleration, handling and braking in a package designed to be at home on any street or road course. The GT500 will take all aspects of the GT350 to the next level with an attending increase in the cost of entry. Ford will do their homework and the GT500 will be an exceptional piece just not one that I will personally lust for enough to part with my GT350.

It has been that way since the beginning. Other than a few concept cars that never made it into production, of course.
Don't forget the Series 1, which did reach production
