Hello,

this is the most "electronically" advanced car I've owned and I'm a little worried about adding an amp to it. Should I add a capacitor? Will adding a 600W amp and subwoofer have any negative impacts on the electronics of the car? This being my first car with HID lights, is there any problems that can happen with the lights similar to older car halogens having dimming lights? Can I disconnect the positive end of the battery terminal (to attach the amp power cable) without worrying about throwing any of the computers out of wack?

Thanks!!

I've got a mono block for my sub and a 4 channel for the speakers. No capacitor and off the battery. Zero issues.

What's the total wattage? No issues either when disconnecting the positive terminal from the battery? Did you tap your speakers with a line-out converter?

Thanks!

My 4 channel is 250x4 and the mono is 750. Both Rockford prime amps. I didn't do the install. I know a guy that has a stereo shop. They did everything for me. They put the LOCs in the dash. They needed 3 of them total. The amps are mounted in the spare tire area since I didn't have a spare.

Did you have the base sound system to begin with? If yes, did you upgrade all the six interior speakers as well?

Yup. Rockford components up front and 3 ways in the back wired to the 4 channel. Rockford P3 12" to the mono

I'm running a 600 watt JL amp and Stealthbox subwoofer for a month now with no issues. The battery was disconnected during the install. It might take a few miles for the computer module to recalibrate after a disconnect but you barely notice it.

You do not need a capacitor. Almost all of those big pill looking caps are junk. You need big copper wire and a working alternator.
