Installed mine today without the Boomba removal tool. I used the main part of a pulley puller, some aluminum plate and whatever I could find to work as spacers.

With my method, I removed the spring pin and spring from the stock shifter handle, as my aluminum stock wasn't quite tall enough. This got the job done and I didn't have to tie up $125.

Cool to see people thinking out of the box! As you can tell, our shifter removal tool isn't 100% necessary but it just helps because it is a puller designed specifically for the shifter. Any regular puller can work with enough creativity!

Glad to see you got the shifter installed, it looks great when topped with that GT350 knob!

Yessir! I am way too impatient to wait on a tool if I can rig up something that works lol. I even did the install after working a 12 hour night shift. I knew I could do it with what I had laying around, but it did take a little longer to figure out what to use. I'm sure things would have gone much faster with the Boomba tool. Either way, I am pleased and love the shifter. The height is perfect with the GT350 knob!

So let me just say...this thing is great! With the significant throw reduction, it feels like a totally different shifter. Install was a breeze...took about an hour conservatively. As you can see from the pics, I have no gap below the ball that some had complained about. I was going to do the GT350 shift knob, but once I drilled and tapped it I realized that it wasn't for me, so I went back to old faithful. My one recommendation to Boomba would be to include a low-profile cable tie instead of the standard type. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and pick some up before you start the install (O'Reilly).

Last pic is a before shot for comparison...

Thanks Boomba!

How are the shift efforts with this? I already find the stock shifter pretty high effort.

Will depend on the weight of your shift knob. I currently have 500+ gram Anarchy Motive knob installed so that reduces shifting effort over a much lighter knob. 400+ grams you really notice a reduction in effort. I had the Boomba knob installed before this. That's 200+ and you tell the difference. As far as the shifter itself there was no real change in effort, but the throw was reduced due to the height reduction. This shifter, a heavy knob, and their bracket is a really nice alternative to changing out the whole shifter assembly.

Just bought mine today with a shift knob. Making my own removal tool, looks real easy.
