I am thinking of having Xpel (or other protective film) installed. However I have Magnetic with matte black OTT stripes. Would that work with the matte stripes or would they look "brighter"? I am thinking about doing full hood, which would then maybe look different vs. roof/trunk. Welcome any input. Has anybody actually put film on matte stripes? Thanks.

It won't work. If they put on Xpel, they will have an option for cut outs for your stripes to keep the matte look, meaning your stripe portion will be exposed.

On my Boss302 I had them put a matte finish Xpel on the srtipes and glossy Xpel on the paint surfaces. It looked good and the stripes still maintained there reflective qualities as well. The bigger issue is there was a tiny gap between the stripes and the paint so it would be a dirt collector overtime, maybe not as noticeable on darker paint though.

You have to do it custom with XPEL matte PPF Film on stripes first and then do the full hood one piece in the middle then one on each outer side of the stripes.

Would the stripes still look the same as the rest of the stripes? I imagine you'll still run into the problem of crud stuck in between where the film's meet

I just had this done yesterday. They gave me the option of leaving the stripes uncovered. The shop would have put the film's edge to the edge of the stripe.

I decided to go with the full coverage, but then again my stripes are glossy.

I'm facing this dilemma here, most companies have never put anything on matte stripes, and are unsure of how it would look, where the lines meet, custom and a whole lot more $, etc.

Another way is to do the whole hood in one piece in XPEL Matte it won't look shiny but will look good.

Can the whole hood be done in xpel matte and then go over the non stripe areas with gloss? Would it be noticeable ?

Gentlemen in the Dallas Ft Worth area (or anyone interested in traveling) I have a Xpel dealer/installer that will do the sales and installation of the; Front bumper, Whole hood, Windshield frame, 10 inches of the bottom side of car, Entire exposed front quarter of the rear wheel, 10 inches of the rear corner to back bumper, under handles, (prevent finger nail, and ring scratches) Door seal area, trunk seal area, head lights, for R's they will do gloss Xpel on the painted areas and flat xpel on the flat stripes for $1,600 dollars. This company has done 4 GT350's and 1 R. I saw their work today and can tell you I'm one of the pickest (not a word) people on the planet, and they passed my test. I have called several Xpel dealers and the priced out, what I just quoted and was close to $3,000.00 PM for the number

I'd be in on that in a instant if i was closer. Haven't found anyone around here who doesn't think they're selling film made of gold. Last quote i got was 7300 including tax (whole car.) Kicker is it would be done in 2 days by 1 guy. WTF is that about?

Same here. Dealer asked me if I wanted to do separate coverage for the stripes with different cuts for the stripes, and the requisite 1/16 inch distance from the stripe on each side where there was a cut, or, wait for it, one sheet to cover the entire hood, and a minor lift between the stripes and paint about 1/16 inch as well, if the Xpel lifts. As far as the stripes, I have race red paint and glossy bright white stripes and it looks good.

Good lord that is dirt cheap. Best I got from a reputable installer was $2k for whole front end.

Damn! I had my car with these guys yesterday and the car in front of me was a Ferrari shipped all the way from Texas just to have these guys do it. Bet the owner probably didn't know about your installer!
