The noise wouldn't sound like this resonator rattle in the video?
Hopefully not - because if this is common enough issue (normally fixed under warranty) I wonder what Ford would say if it happens AFTER an exhaust upgrade (their policy towards any problems after an exhaust modification being 'it will not invalidate the warranty as long as the issue does not stem from the exhaust' - and who will be the judge of that?)

I guess these sticky pads you stick them on with won't damage the paint when I pull it off?
Use fishing line or dental floss between the plate and the bumper, try a sawing motion and it will cut through the pads. You will need new pads and have to remove the remaining pads bits but won't damage the paint.

Tip on removing numberplate stuck with sticky pads:

Use dental floss between the plate and number to 'saw' through the sticky pad. It takes a bit of perseverance. You'll be left with half the sticky pad on the car, but you can then soak it off and polish the residue away before reapplying.

Congrats Twiggy. I think mine may be doing something similar. At first I thought it was the climate control - that kind of gasping noise when the system kicks in which I guess could be likened to your rice description. But I now know that it's coming up through the the shifter boot and there is more high frequency vibration in the lever than I remember from the demo. The noise reduces a lot if I grasp my, ahem, knob :) tightly, so it's either resonance....or our gearboxes are buggered. Question for me is do I start the inevitable cycle of half dozen failed dealer investigations or do I crack on installing the Barton as planned and hope I find and sort the source of the problem? Will decide after another drive today.

I'd be taking that^ to the dealer first.

If, as you say, it's related to the gearbox/stick somehow I can't see Ford taking too kindly to you having fitted a non-oe shifter.

Must get round to fitting mine too! ;)

Most aftermarket exhausts that are being fitted don't have resonator boxes.

Yes it's a right pain as I didn't want to drive the car much until I got the underseal done, and the only way to sort the sound out is to drive it but until it's done i'm reluctant, one thing I noticed is I found going into 5th gear a struggle and I was have to push hard to get the gear stick into 5th.

I recall someone else on here who's car arrived around the same time as mine was just about to collect it and the dealer called to say they'll have to wait as they found a problem with the gear box.

Well I took her out again today, it did it a few times, It seems to happen when I'm driving very slow and maybe it's in to higher a gear when I increase the speed, i'd almost say it was a vibration type of sound so i'm sure now it's gear box or drive shaft related.
