Sorry to hear it mate, mine might be normal yet but it's hard to know what normal is, mine has got a very tinny metal type vibration as well which is defo not normal, the sort of sound that gets you going WTF pull over quick, It might be the drive shaft or gearbox making the whirling sound which in turn is making something tinny rattle to the tune of it, might be the heat shield, i'll let you know the results on Monday.Hmm, gearbox issues. I was about to park up my car yesterday after a 40 mile drive. I was trying to locate a unit on an industrial estate and was creeping with only the satnag, no audio. I heard what just might be a similar noise to what you describe @twiggy. I've seen no excessive vibration or difficulty selecting gears, other than it being a bit notchy 1st to 2nd when cold, and I'm not sure I would even have noticed it/thought it to be an issue had I not read your thread. I'll be doing a little investigation tomorrow but in my case this could turn into an issue I don't worry about too much, assuming it doesn't turn into something significant. For all I know it could be normal; I'm no mechanical expert, and I'm not looking for reasons to build my relationship with the service dept. At the end of the day the warranty lasts three years.

My resonator has already gone so in my case at least it's not thatThe tinny rattle and whirling noise is also can be the resonator/suitcase, it is actually rather common.
If your gonna fit a catback exhaust, fit that first and see if the noise goes, if your not gonna fit an exhaust, get car in air, start it up and stick your head close to the suitcase as many call it.![]()
Will let you know tomorrow. Only noticed it in literally the last 15 seconds before parking up yesterday. Could all be in my head however as I know better than to listen to symptoms normally. If someone describes a pain they're experiencing I'll be suffering the same within 10 minutes ;)Does the noise change if you push the clutch peddle down when out of gear and stationary?
My old 350z used to make a racket when sat idling and I always thought the gearbox was about to shit itself. It was perfectly Normal and was the thrust bearing making the noise.
Not good Twiggy, feel your pain. Ford clearly haven't got a clue. Any option to take it to a specialist & get Ford to foot the bill? Just an idea.Day 2 at the dealers, still NO word, don't think i'll be see my car for sometime now, I guess you could say I picked the LEMON.
