I just got my 2.9L Whipple installed last week and got her home. I have about 300 miles on her right now. last night I was driving home and the Check Engine Light came on. I called my guy who installed the kit and I have a 0900 appointment tomorrow to take it in to see what the codes are. the tune was from Whipple. I hope it is something that can be adjusted with the computer and ill be home right afterwards.... im sweating bullets hoping it isn't anything that is going to cost a ton of money. I have the whipple tuner but don't have a way to see what code and what it is until tomorrow, so im really worried....

Agreed. I am working with Whipple right now on a very small issue I am having. They will work with you and your shop to rectify the problem. And if you have a CEL.. that will narrow it down rather quickly. Don't let it worry you too much brother. Whipple's customer service, and attentiveness to their customers is top notch. And as Sonic stated above, it seems to almost alwaysssss be install related, or something very minor and easily corrected. You will be in good hands :)

I had one after about 200 miles for intermittent misfire. I re-gapped my plugs to the lower end of the recommended range and never got the light again.

So I went to the shop today. The mechanic looked it over and said it was a misfire. He checked all the wires and cleared the check light. He did a bunch of things on the computer and an SCT tuner. He wasn’t able to get the car to misfire and the light never came back on. He did pull all the sparkplug and fuel injector wires and applied a dab of electrical lube. It might be me, im not sure if it is in my head, but the car seems to run better and pulls much stronger. 12 hours later, im feeling much better. I hope that’s it. If it does it again, ill suggest gapping the plugs on the low end and see if that helps. I asked about that and my mechanic said the kit had the plugs pre-gapped…

Thanks Guys

Glad to hear. I also heard they were supposed to be pre gapped but when I checked them they were all over the place, from .040 all the way to .048. I set them all to .038 though just to make sure I don't blow the spark out if I decide to drop a few pulley sizes.

They are definitely not pre-gapped. All of mine were near .045. Take the time to gap set/check them properly.

I'm sure your issue was plug gap, they do not come pre gapped. If you havn't done so get them gapped at .028

I'm sure it's something simple, keep us posted.

Did the shop perform a profile relearn?
Got my baby back. the mechanic assured me the plugs had been sized when they did the install, but he pulled them again and made sure they were at .028. one plug was at .030 but the rest were at .028. there was also a code of a misfire when the car was started. it has been starting ruff. like is was starving for fuel.

So are the codes cleared and is the car now running normal?

Would one plug running .02 different cause a miss-fire? I know plugs cause missfires, I just assumed it would need to be a little more out of gap than that.

No way, that's within the margin of error. Did the shop say it all looks good except for that?
